The Online Program Director position provides academic leadership and direction to the program and will actively champion the UNSW Online program to internal and external stakeholders. This role provides clear ownership, accountability, and strategic direction for the program. This includes oversight of the curriculum and management of a variety of program-related matters, in collaboration with the Faculty, School, and Lifelong Learning (LLL). The role has responsibility for continuous improvement of the program and student experience, intellectual rigour, and promotion of the program to prospective students, employers, and industry.
The Online Program Director will be responsible for overseeing two programs:
- Master of Business Psychology: A program that equips professionals to apply evidence-based psychology principles to solve complex people-related and behavioural challenges in organisations. Graduates will develop a strong foundation in psychological science, and the practical capability to translate this across domains such as employee wellbeing, leadership, and organisational change.
- Master of Sustainability: A program that equips professionals to lead their organisations’ response to sustainability challenges – spanning strategy, governance, finance, and regulation. Graduates will develop the technical literacy to engage credibly across disciplinary boundaries, and the strategic capability to translate complex environmental, economic, and policy signals into organisational action.
This role will have significant support from and working relationships with: UNSW Online and LLL; Shared Student Services; Admissions; third-party education service providers and partners; and teaching staff (faculty and sessional). Also important is liaison with Heads and Deputy Heads of Schools, school and industry advisory boards (where relevant), and external stakeholders such as employers and accreditation boards.
The role reports directly to the Head of the School of Psychology, with a dotted reporting line to the Academic Lead, Lifelong Learning. This position is expected to maintain oversight of the teaching teams and stream coordinators in the program where relevant. Supervision of sessional teaching staff may be required.

Specific responsibilities for this role include:
- Oversee the development of the UNSW Online program, providing academic feedback and quality assurance on program design, facilitating the governance of the program, supporting development of marketing and facilitating engagement and oversight of design and delivery academics.
- Provide academic leadership of the UNSW Online program, in line with the University’s and Faculty’s strategy, equity, diversity, and inclusion, and SDGs. Ensure the development and delivery of the program suite is in alignment with UNSW Online in consultation with Faculty Associate Deans, Heads of School and Deputy Heads of School.
- Manage the quality of program development and delivery and drive commitment to continuous improvement to a high-quality student experience, in line with Lifelong Learning learner experience and universal design models. Leverage student and staff feedback, and review teaching outcomes with UNSW Online, Heads and Deputy Heads of School, and those nominated to have program-specific responsibilities.
- Where relevant, develop strategies for student engagement within the Program.
- Maintain oversight of program quality, including overall program, course and assessment quality. Lead and support academic reviews as required including required course/curriculum reviews and support implementation of review recommendations and monitoring of implementation outcomes.
- Work with UNSW Online and other relevant stakeholders to understand and monitor competitiveness and market relevance of the program. Support updates/revisions to the program and courses to ensure continued relevance to prospective students and employers.
- Actively participate in events driven by Lifelong Learning, Future Students and other central units, championing the program to all audiences. These may include but are not limited to program and course design and review workshops, student onboarding and engagement activities, graduation ceremonies, and program information sessions.
- Contribute to the Lifelong Learning Academic Community of Practice to facilitate information sharing and the provision of advice and support. May be required to attend ARG and other Faculty and School meetings to support results and governance processes.
- Where applicable, engage with relevant stream coordinators and staff developing and teaching in the program, and coordinate as required to ensure alignment with program specific initiatives.
- Where applicable, fulfill professional accreditation requirements – support the design of the Program to meet and maintain accreditation standards, oversee management of ongoing accreditation, including reaccreditation, oversee the design, implementation and management of placement requirements and identify future employment, professional and accreditation opportunities.
- Ensure hazards and risks are identified and controlled for tasks, projects and activities that pose a health and safety risk within your area of responsibility.
- Align with and actively demonstrate the Code of Conduct and Values.
- Cooperate with all health & safety policies and procedures of the university and take all reasonable care to ensure that your actions or omissions do not impact on the psychosocial or physical health and safety of yourself or others.
