Why Your Role Matters
As the Chancellery Security Concierge, you’ll be the face of security within one of UNSW’s most prominent buildings, creating a safe, professional and welcoming environment for staff, students, visitors and senior stakeholders.
This is more than a traditional security role. You’ll combine strong customer service skills with security awareness, emergency response and stakeholder engagement to support the day-to-day operations of the Chancellery Building. From managing visitor access and responding to incidents, to supporting senior University operations, your professionalism and presence will help maintain the safety and reputation of the University.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver a professional and welcoming concierge experience to staff, students and visitors
- Monitor and maintain security operations across the Chancellery Building and surrounding grounds
- Conduct internal and perimeter patrols and respond to incidents, alarms and emergencies
- Assist with access control, CCTV monitoring and visitor management
- Liaise with hospitality teams, contractors and senior University stakeholders regarding daily operations and events
- Support emergency response procedures and escalate incidents appropriately to senior security staff
- Operate EWIS panels and support evacuation procedures when required
- Coordinate deliveries, contractor access and visitor sign-in processes
- Complete administrative duties including reporting, data entry and maintaining security registers
- Support broader UNSW Security Operations as required
- Provide ad hoc transport support for the Vice Chancellor within the Sydney metropolitan area
Who You Are
You’re a customer-focused professional with a strong background in security, concierge services or front-line customer service. You know how to remain calm under pressure, confidently manage challenging stakeholders and provide a high standard of service in a fast-paced environment.
You enjoy being part of a close-knit team, can guide and support others when needed, and understand when situations require escalation to senior security personnel.
You’ll Bring:
- Strong customer service and communication skills
- Experience in security, concierge, hospitality or a similar customer-facing environment
- Confidence handling conflict resolution and security incidents professionally
- Excellent situational awareness and emergency response capability
- Strong computer literacy including administration and data entry skills
- Ability to liaise professionally with stakeholders at all levels
- A proactive, reliable and team-oriented approach
- Current NSW 1AC Security Licence
- Current First Aid and CPR certification
- NSW Class C Driver Licence with a strong driving record
- Working With Children Check
