Why The Role Matters:

The Education Support Officer provides administrative and operational support for undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and learning, contributing to academic quality, governance, and continuous improvement activities. The role supports core education functions including academic program reviews, curriculum and governance processes, data analysis and reporting, and the coordination of projects that support education leaders and academic teams to plan and deliver educational initiatives. The role reports to the Academic Quality Manager and has no direct reports.


Accountabilities:

  • Apply, interpret, and advise on policies, systems, manuals, rules, procedures, and guidelines relevant to Teaching Support activities across the Faculty.
  • Undertake Faculty management and oversight of timelines and processes relating to the publishing of the UNSW Handbook, course offerings, and the Enterprise Course Outline System (ECOS). Work with and communicate with all Deputy Heads of School / Directors of Learning and Teaching and Teaching Support Officers regarding these processes and timelines.
  • Work with the Academic Quality Manager, Academic Quality Team, Associate Dean Education, and schools to support and deliver Academic Program Reviews across the Faculty.
  • Undertake Faculty management of Academic Quality related projects.
  • Undertake Faculty support for the review, adjustment, revisions, and publication of course catalogues, ECLIPS and Handbook entries across all courses and programs.
  • Undertake Faculty term planning activities including completion of accurate Clash Free Course Combinations (CFCCs), Enrolment Requirement Groups (ERGs), and ensuring all changes to programs and courses have been accounted for.
  • Maintain, support and coordinate results processing as it relates to late entry results, changes, disputed marks and unresolved marks.
  • Support the Faculty through the completion and compiling of data and reporting relating to Academic Quality.

Skills and Experience:

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications and/or an equivalent level of knowledge gained through any other combination of education, training and/or experience.
  • High-level understanding of course coordination, handbook requirements, Teaching Support logistics and program administration.
  • Proven experience working with different university systems, particularly in relation to program and course curriculum management.
  • Consistently demonstrates a keen eye for even the smallest details, ensuring accuracy and precision in all tasks, minimising errors, and producing high-quality work.
  • Excellent problem solving, communication, analytical and organisational skills with an ability to meet deadlines and to identify gaps in service and make suggestions for improvement.
  • Expertise in a range of computing skills including Power BI, word processing, spreadsheets, and databases and a willingness to learn new systems.
