Why Your Role Matters
As a Senior Admissions Officer, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality, compliant admissions outcomes for both domestic and international applicants. You will manage complex cases, exercise sound judgment, and contribute to continuous improvement across admissions processes.
This role also provides guidance and support to Admissions Officers, helping build capability and ensure consistency across the team, while engaging with agents and external stakeholders as required.
The Senior Admissions Officer reports to an Admissions Team Leader or Admissions Manager and has no direct reports.
We are currently recruiting for two roles: one full-time permanent position and one fixed-term contract approved until July 2026 at this stage. We also anticipate additional fixed-term opportunities becoming available in the near future, making this a great time to join a growing and evolving team.
Main responsibilities Summary

Managing routine and complex admissions cases within delegated authority, escalating matters outside remit or requiring policy interpretation to the Team Leader or Manager.

Coordinating the end-to-end admissions offer round process, ensuring timely, accurate, and compliant release of offers in line with policy and system controls, while monitoring outcomes and escalating exceptions.

Providing guidance, training, and quality assurance to Admissions Officers to support capability development and consistency.

Assisting Team Leaders by preparing and running workload reports, supporting allocation of cases to ensure efficiency, equity, and timely delivery of outcomes.

Offering accurate advice and interpretation of UNSW policies to applicants and agents.

Applying knowledge of TEQSA, ESOS, HESA, and university policy to ensure admissions practices are compliant and auditable.

Supporting the development of standard operating procedures and continuous improvement initiatives.

Engaging in system optimisation, process redesign, and sector benchmarking.

Representing the Admissions Office at events and maintaining strong liaison across teams to ensure consistent best practices

Who You Are
We are looking for someone who is excited about UNSW’s vision and values, who is organised, enjoys working in a team and takes initiative. We’d love you to come equipped with:

Demonstrated experience in admissions processing, in a fast paced, high-volume environment

Demonstrated experience in customer service dealing with a range of people from different backgrounds, ideally in a higher education environment

Demonstrated advanced Excel skills (as there will be a lot of reporting)

Experience mentoring or supervising team members

Excellent communication skills (especially written) with the ability to translate complex information into simple terms

Demonstrated attention to detail, even when experiencing large-volume and peak processing periods/workflows

Demonstrated knowledge of institutional policies and regulations related to student admissions is ideal
The role will work on a hybrid basis, Monday to Friday, business hours. Work during the end of the year UNSW shutdown period, and some key weekends during peak periods, may be required.
Candidates will need to have ongoing working rights – this role is not available for sponsorship.
