Why Your Role Matters
The Admissions Officer plays a key role in processing and assessing applications within the Admissions, Scholarships and RPL team.
You’ll deliver high-quality, accurate, and timely admissions services while providing excellent customer support to applicants, University staff, agents, and offshore partners. The role requires strong attention to detail, effective communication, and a commitment to maintaining compliance and service standards.
This position reports to an Admissions Team Leader or Manager and has no direct reports. This is a fixed term opportunity until end of December 2026 (parental leave cover). We also anticipate an additional opportunity to become available in the near future, making this a great time to join a growing and evolving team.
Main Responsibilities
- Process and assess admission applications accurately and efficiently in line with University policies
- Respond promptly to phone, email, and in-person enquiries, providing clear and professional advice
- Use student administration systems and other software to manage data, generate reports, and produce correspondence
- Evaluate academic qualifications and English language proficiency to determine eligibility for admission
- Issue offers and confirmation of enrolment (eCOE) forms for international applicants
- Verify applicant documentation and escalate discrepancies to ensure compliance
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of admissions and higher education policies and procedures
- Contribute to policy and process improvements by providing feedback and assisting in developing training and resources
- Support the coordination of workloads to meet deadlines and maintain high-quality outcomes

- Previous experience in admissions (essential)
- Understanding of the student cycle in a higher education setting
- Strong organisational and administrative skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines
- Proven ability to interpret and apply policy and procedures accurately
- Strong computer literacy, including experience with student administration systems or other large business applications
- Well-developed interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with people from diverse cultural backgrounds
- An understanding of, and sensitivity to, issues affecting international students and applicants
- A commitment to continuous improvement and contributing to a positive team culture aligned with UNSW’s values
Candidates will need to have ongoing working rights – this role is not available for sponsorship.
The role will work on a hybrid basis, Monday to Friday, business hours. Work during the end of the year UNSW shutdown period, and some key weekends during peak periods, may be required.
