The Opportunity
After significant consultation, UNSW’s Academic Calendar will be shifting from the 3+ model to a ‘flex-semester’ model in 2028. The University is now undergoing the planning and implementation phases to ensure a smooth transition for all staff and students by 2028. This is a project-specific faculty role focused on redesigning and preparing hundreds of programs, specialisations and courses for delivery for Semester 1 and Semester 2 2028. The role sits within a whole of university transformation program, along with the related governance, systems, processes and implementation readiness required for successful delivery.

The role provides high level practical and efficient project support for the Engineering Academic Calendar Transition and related curriculum transformation activities. The role focuses on project controls, governance readiness and delivery coordination, including maintaining and implementing integrated plans and reporting, risk and issue management, action and decision tracking, dependency management, and coordination of governance-ready outputs across eight Schools and key stakeholders. The role also supports consistent ways of working across the Faculty through practical templates, quality checks, minimum evidence standards and supervision of casual project officers during peak delivery periods. The role reports to the Academic Calendar Transition Senior Project Manager.

Skills and Experience:

  • Relevant tertiary qualification with subsequent relevant experience or equivalent competence gained through any combination of education, training and experience.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a high level of attention to detail for deliverables produced.
  • Demonstrated success working effectively and collaboratively on initiatives with a range of people at different levels within an organisation.
  • Experience working with a range of computer systems and applications, including Microsoft 365 (Teams, SharePoint, Excel, PowerPoint) and project reporting tools; experience with Microsoft Lists, Power BI and workflow tools is desirable.
  • Excellent time management skills, with a demonstrated ability to respond to changing priorities, manage multiple tasks and meet competing deadlines by using judgement and initiative.
  • Proven project experience, with an understanding of the project life cycle and development of project plans, objectives and documentation.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and productively within a team, but also to take initiative and work independently while managing competing demands.
  • An understanding of and commitment to UNSW’s aims, objectives and values in action, together with relevant policies and guidelines.
