UNSW IT is part of UNSW’s Operations Division and provides high quality, sustainable, flexible products and state of the art technology services to UNSW. The Senior Test Analyst is an integral role of their respective domain solutions' teams, collaborating with business analysts, functional analysts, technical developers and IT testing practice CoE. The role is responsible for executing multiple types testing that are required, manual and automated, including the preparation of test plans, test cases and test reports. The role is expected to stay updated with and apply UNSW IT testing standards and guidelines and to learn and be proficient with the tools UNSW IT choose for testing. The Senior Test Analyst reports to the Head of Testing with a dotted line into the Technology Manager and Project Manager.
Specific accountabilities for this role include:
- Conduct comprehensive analysis of project requirements and design meticulous test cases for thorough coverage.
- Seamlessly perform manual and automated testing within waterfall or agile sprints, covering system integration, functional, volume, user interface, and performance testing.
- Ensure product releases consistently exceed predefined quality standards, emphasizing commitment to excellence.
- Thoroughly document test cases, plans, results, and defects while maintaining a focus on analysing testing efforts for completeness.
- Actively participate in Agile ceremonies, including estimations and retrospectives, and contribute to continuous improvement. Additionally, create, maintain, and run automated test scripts for efficient testing processes.
- Foster close collaboration with Business teams, developers and SMEs to ensure alignment with customer and business requirements, promoting a cohesive approach to project success.
- Contribute and be an advocate to the wider development and engineering community through participation in development guilds for knowledge sharing and learning.
- Establish, maintain and execute a common set of test cases and test scripts that can be used repeatedly for both BAU testing and project testing, including the test case scripting using UNSW IT testing framework, process and tools, such as TestRay or Zephyr.
- Analyse and report test activities and results with the aim to identify and implement continuous improvements to testing and QA process, methods, tools and standards.
- Take responsibility for escalating test issues and ensuring they are driven through to resolution.
Who you are:
- Tertiary qualifications in IT or related discipline together with 5+ years’ experience in software testing.
- Demonstrated capability in software testing including preparation of test plans, test cases, execution of tests and reporting of defects.
- Extensive experience with CRM D365, Adobe Experience Cloud, Adobe Experience Platform, Adobe Journey Optimiser and Automation using Selenium
- Extensive experience in the development and implementation of IT testing strategies, including full life-cycle testing methodologies and the systems development life-cycle. Experience working in an Agile/ Dev-Ops environment will be advantageous.
- Understanding of automated testing tools or technical testing frameworks e.g. Cucumber/Gherkin/Karate, Playwright, TestNG, Zephyr, Selenium, Browserstack, Jenkins, Ghost Inspector or similar
- Comprehensive understanding of various testing phases, such as System Testing, System Integration Testing, User Acceptance Testing, Performance testing etc
- Strong presentation skills, both written and verbal, and the ability to structure and articulate messages to different audiences at all levels. • Ability to advocate the value of software testing processes and methods to stakeholders including Project Managers, Business Analysts and Developers.
- Demonstrated ability to rapidly absorb information and utilise it to analyse, interpret and integrate complex information.
- Proven experience in working autonomously and proactively to identify and deliver innovative insights and models to drive business performance.
- Excellent organisational skills, with a demonstrated ability to respond to changing priorities, work independently with effectiveness, manage multiple tasks and meet competing deadlines by using judgement and initiative and resolve complex problems as they arise.
- An understanding of and commitment to UNSW’s aims, objectives and values in action, together with relevant policies and guidelines.
- Knowledge of health & safety (psychosocial and physical) responsibilities and commitment to attending relevant health and safety training.
