The Opportunity

Sunswift Racing within the Faculty of Engineering, UNSW, is seeking a Project Officer to join one of the University’s flagship student-led engineering projects. In this role, you will provide high-quality project coordination, administrative and operational support to ensure the successful delivery of Sunswift’s initiatives. Working closely with project leaders, students and key stakeholders, you will contribute to planning, reporting, stakeholder engagement and communications, helping to drive project outcomes and support the continued success and impact of this internationally recognised program.

Based at the University of New South Wales (UNSW) in Sydney, Sunswift Racing is a leading solar-electric vehicle development team. Our team was founded in 1996 by a small group of electrical academics and PhD students with the vision to build a car to compete in the World Solar Challenge. Since then, Sunswift has built several solar vehicles, with the eighth currently in production. Notably, our latest car, Sunswift 7, holds the Guinness World Record as the world’s fastest EV over 1000km on a single battery charge, garnering significant global media attention.   • Salary, Level 6 - $103,866 to $110,801 per annum + 17% superannuation (pro-rated to 0.6 FTE)
  • Part time (0.6 FTE)
  • Fixed term – 24 months
  • Location: Kensington – Sydney, Australia

Skills & Experience

  • Relevant tertiary qualification with subsequent relevant experience or equivalent competence gained through any combination of education, training and experience.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a high level of attention to detail for deliverables produced.
  • Sound stakeholder management skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with a range of stakeholders.
  • Experience working with a range of computer systems and applications, including the Microsoft suite.
  • Excellent time management skills, with a demonstrated ability to respond to changing priorities, manage multiple tasks and meet competing deadlines by using judgement and initiative.
  • Project experience, with an understanding of the project life cycle and development of project plans, objectives and documentation.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and productively within a team, but also to take initiative and work independently while managing competing demands.
  • An understanding of and commitment to UNSW’s aims, objectives and values in action, together with relevant policies and guidelines.
  • Knowledge of health & safety (psychosocial and physical) responsibilities and commitment to attending relevant health and safety training.
