Why Your Role Matters:
We are seeking a confident Litigator to join our Legal & Compliance Office and oversee the management and resolution of disputes across the University. In this position, you will manage litigation matters, represent the University before Courts and Tribunals, and contribute to the delivery of high‑quality legal services across a diverse portfolio.

You’ll benefit form continued guidance and mentorship, while you partner with clients across the University to deliver clear, practical and solutions‑focused legal advice. This role offers the opportunity to broaden your expertise across a wide range of matters and play a key part in strengthening the University’s legal capability

Your day to day will include:

  • Partnering with colleagues across the University to provide timely, effective and solutions‑oriented legal advice
  • Advising on and managing the resolution of legal disputes involving the University.
  • Undertaking detailed legal research, assessing case facts, and contributing to the development of effective litigation strategies.
  • Coordinating the University’s responses to subpoenas and other legal processes, preparing high‑quality court documents, and legal correspondence.
  • Participating in negotiations, mediations, and court appearances with professionalism and confidence, representing the University in a range of Courts and Tribunals as needed.
  • Managing your own matters with a balance of autonomy and structured support.
  • Contributing to commercial and contractual matters as part of the team’s broader work, expanding your professional experience

Who you are: A qualified lawyer with 2+ years’ post‑admission experience in disputes and litigation, ideally spanning commercial, administrative and defamation matters. You bring strong analytical capability, confidently distilling complex legal issues and contributing clear, well‑reasoned advice. Your developed legal writing skills and ability to communicate with clarity and professionalism will enable you to work effectively with stakeholders across the University.:

  • Admission to the Supreme Court of NSW and a current practicing certificate
  • A collegiate and client-centric approach
  • A flexible and adaptable attitude with demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills alongside strong verbal and written communication abilities.
  • An analytical and problem-solving mind with the ability to work independently and take initiative.
