Why your role matters
Library Learning Services is the primary entry point for most UNSW Library clients. It operates at scale, across multiple channels, and handles a wide spectrum of enquiries, from routine to highly complex.
This role leads the system that underpins that service.
The Team Leader, Library Learning Services is responsible for ensuring that high-volume, front-line services are not only delivered, but designed, measured and continuously improved. This includes shaping workflows, building team capability, and making operational decisions that directly impact client experience, staff workload and service consistency.
This is not a coordination role. It requires strong judgement, comfort with ambiguity, and the ability to lead experienced staff in a fast-paced environment where priorities shift and demand is uneven.
About You:
- A relevant tertiary qualification with substantial relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. A qualification in Library and Information Studies is desirable.
- Demonstrated experience leading complex, high-volume client or student-facing services, preferably within an academic library, higher education or a comparable environment.
- Proven ability to lead services, including the design, implementation and improvement of service workflows and standards.
- Demonstrated experience developing line managers or experienced staff, with a focus on capability uplift and sustainable workload distribution.
- Strong analytical capability, including the ability to interpret service data and enquiry trends to inform operational decisions and improvements.
- Demonstrated ability to lead change in an operational environment, including trialing new approaches and embedding improved ways of working.
- Highly developed communication, negotiation and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to influence and sustain effective working relationships across teams and organisational boundaries.
- Demonstrated judgement and decision-making capability in complex, fast-paced service contexts.
