Why Your Role Matters:
The Investments Operations Analyst provides operational support for UNSW’s investments function, including implementation, reporting and analysis related to the University’s endowment and long-term reserves. The role supports the administration of investment activities and ensures the accurate settlement, recording and reporting of transactions in line with relevant accounting standards and University policies.

Based within the Treasury, Investments and Insurance team in the Division of Operations, the role contributes to the effective management and monitoring of the University’s investable assets and supports the decision making of the Finance Investment Sub-committee (ISC). The position reports to the Treasury & Investments Manager.

Responsibilities:

  • Implement quarterly ISC investment decisions across UNSW’s c.$1bn investment portfolio, including multi-asset managed funds, private equity and listed securities
  • Oversee investment operations and back-office activities, including trade settlement instructions and accurate transaction recording with the custodian
  • Monthly analysis of portfolio performance reporting, interpreting data from StatPro Revolution (Confluence)
  • Lead operational efficiency projects
  • Manage relationships with external investment custodian and support engagement with external fund managers
  • Lead the accounting and valuation of investment transactions ensuring accurate reporting and compliance and develop and implement solutions for complex investment structures and transaction accounting
  • Provide financial analysis and insights to support Finance Leadership Team decision making
  • Contribute to the development and enhancement of investment procedures, governance and operational controls

Skills and Experience Summary:

  • Relevant tertiary qualification with subsequent relevant experience in a finance function of a large complex organisation or equivalent competence gained through any combination of education, training and experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in investment operations, middle office or investments support
  • Experience with trade support, portfolio data, performance reporting or risk analytics
  • Proven ability to clearly communicate complex financial concepts to non‐financial professionals orally and in writing, and strong interpersonal and stakeholder management skills.
  • Excellent time management skills, with a demonstrated ability to respond to changing priorities, manage multiple tasks and meet competing deadlines by using judgement and initiative.
  • Experience working with a range of computer systems and applications, including a treasury management system and a financial information services system.
