About the Role

The Senior Business Analyst leads complex, enterprise-wide analysis within the EDO, designing scalable solutions that align with UNSW’s strategic goals. By defining business needs, process improvements, and data requirements, the role ensures all outcomes are practical and institutional priorities are met.

As a key influencer in business and technology decisions, the role mentors other analysts and advances university-wide analysis standards and tools. Reporting to the Director – Data Transformation, this position carries no direct reports.

The successful applicant will possess and have experience in:

  • Lead end-to-end business analysis for enterprise-level initiatives, covering everything from initial business case development to post-implementation reviews.
  • Partner with senior stakeholders to align business and technology outcomes with UNSW’s strategic objectives and assess organizational impacts.
  • Design and document complex "as-is" and "to-be" processes and solution models across multiple data domains and functional units.
  • Define and recommend specialized business analysis approaches, toolsets, and standards for major University projects and programs.
  • Mentor and guide other business analysts to ensure workstream consistency and alignment with enterprise architecture and project goals.
  • Collaborate with technical teams, including architects and developers, to ensure solutions satisfy both business needs and technical constraints.
  • Drive enterprise testing activities by defining test cases and leading user acceptance testing (UAT) to validate business requirements.

About You

  • Hold a relevant tertiary qualification combined with extensive experience leading strategic, enterprise-scale initiatives in large, complex organizations.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in operating effectively across diverse delivery frameworks, including Agile, Waterfall, and Hybrid environments.
  • Possess high-level expertise in core analysis tools for process mapping, requirements elicitation, data analysis, and solution evaluation.
  • Exhibit a proven track record in developing business cases, managing vendor selection, and supporting the implementation of enterprise platforms.
  • Apply advanced analytical and problem-solving skills to assess complex system interdependencies and deliver practical, scalable solutions.
  • Exercise outstanding communication and negotiation skills to bridge gaps between executive sponsors, technical teams, and diverse end users.
  • Provide leadership through mentoring, guiding, and reviewing the work of other analysts to ensure high-quality, consistent deliverables.
