The Opportunity

The Faculty of Engineering has a continuing (permanent) part-time position for a General Administrator located in the School of Minerals and Energy Resources. This continuing part-time position supports the school and faculty by delivering efficient day-to-day administrative services. Key responsibilities include acting as the first point of contact for stakeholders, providing advice on administrative processes, maintaining databases and spreadsheets, coordinating meetings and events, and managing financial tasks such as purchasing, travel, and reimbursements. The role also contributes to process improvement initiatives within the school and faculty.

This position will report to the School Manager with a dotted line to the Team Leader General Administrators.

  • Salary, Level 5: $88,717 to $100,386 per annum + 17% superannuation
  • Part-time (0.6 FTE) – 3 days per week
  • Continuing (permanent)
  • Location: Kensington – Sydney, Australia
  • Onsite role

Skills and Experience

  • Relevant tertiary qualification with subsequent relevant experience or equivalent competence gained through any combination of education, training and experience.
  • Advanced time management, organisational and problem-solving skills, including the ability to meet deadlines.
  • Demonstrated administrative, procurement and/or store activities experience within a large and complex institution or equivalent.
  • Well-developed interpersonal and written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated experience providing effective customer service and support to clients at all levels.
  • Highly proficient computer literacy with excellent skills in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to make sound judgements and work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting and contributing to projects and initiatives.
  • Demonstrated ability to apply, interpret, advise on and contribute to the development of protocols, procedures, guidelines and administrative systems.
  • Advanced numeracy skills.
  • An understanding of and commitment to UNSW’s aims, objectives and values in action, together with relevant policies and guidelines.
  • Knowledge of health & safety (psychosocial and physical) responsibilities and commitment to attending relevant health and safety training.
