The Opportunity:
The Postdoctoral Fellow in Geospatial and Space Information Systems will focus on the conceptualisation and prototyping of spatial data infrastructures and registries for space environments and objects. The role involves research into spatial data models for representing volumes and temporal dynamics in space, spatial coordinate systems, spatial governance frameworks, and spatial interoperability standards. There is a strong emphasis on developing non-appropriative spatial registry concepts aligned with international space law for sustainable and secure space operations. The Postdoctoral Fellow will contribute to advancing the theory of space registry, prototype system development, stakeholder engagement, and the preparation of high-impact research outputs and grant applications within the Digital Twin and Land Tenure Engineering research group at the School of Civil and Environmental Engineering. The role of Post-Doctoral Fellow reports to Associate Professor Mohsen Kalantari and has no direct reports.
- Level A, Salary – AUD $91,381 - $121,838 per annum + 17% superannuation (pro rata)
- Part Time (17.5-hours a week)
- Fixed-term contract – 2 years

Skills & Experience:

- A PhD in a related discipline, and/or relevant work experience.
- Proven commitment to proactively keeping up to date with discipline knowledge and developments.
- Demonstrated ability to undertake high quality academic research and conduct independent research with limited supervision.
- Demonstrated track record of publications and conference presentations relative to opportunity.
- Demonstrated ability to work in a team, collaborate across disciplines and build effective relationships.
