Details of the role
UNSW’s Education Focused roles give academics the opportunity to specialise in teaching and make a real impact on student learning. As Lecturer (Education Focused), you will contribute to teaching in biostatistics and regression methods within our undergraduate and postgraduate programs. You will work collaboratively with colleagues in the School of Population Health to design and deliver engaging courses, support student learning, and explore innovative approaches to teaching.
The role of Lecturer reports to Director of Teaching and has no direct reports.
Some key skills required:
- A PhD in biostatistics and/or relevant work experience
- Demonstrated high-level skills in biostatistics and data analysis, including proficiency with statistical software (e.g., Jamovi) and data science languages (including R) for producing data visualisations and analysing data
- Demonstrated experience in teaching biostatistics at undergraduate and/or postgraduate level
- Ability to use educational technologies and online delivery methods effectively
- Evidence of ability to support and inspire students from diverse backgrounds and support student equity, diversity and inclusion initiatives
- Design and develop learning activities and resources, and assessment and feedback using a range of suitable approaches and learning environments
- Support learning progression with students as individuals (through such activities as one‑to‑one consultation) and as a cohort (through general course related advice) to achieve positive learning and employability outcomes for students
- Manage course administration as Course Authority, including academic quality assurance
