Why Your Role Matters:
The Senior Project Officer will play a key role within the School of Health Sciences, Faculty of Medicine and Health, providing high-level project management and operational support to the research team delivering the Scalable Allied Health and General Practice responses to Long-COVID in primary care (SAGE) trial. This project is funded by the Medical Research Future Fund (MRFF) and focuses on improving primary care responses for individuals experiencing Post-Acute Sequelae of COVID-19 (Long COVID).
Reporting to the Chief Investigator Dr Carolina Sandler, the Senior Project Officer will be responsible for supporting the implementation, coordination, and delivery of primary care–based research projects. The role has no direct reports and requires a high degree of initiative, strong organisational skills, and the ability to manage complex research activities across multiple stakeholders.
Who You Are:
- Relevant tertiary qualification in clinical research with subsequent relevant experience or equivalent competence gained through any combination of education, training and experience. Experience in primary care is preferred.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including interactions with diverse clinical and research stakeholders, with a high level of attention to detail for deliverables produced.
- Demonstrated success working effectively and collaboratively on initiatives with a range of people at different levels within an organization.
- Experience working with a range of computer systems and applications, including Microsoft Office suite with a proven aptitude for learning new software packages (e.g., REDCap).
- Excellent time management skills, with a demonstrated ability to respond to changing priorities, manage multiple tasks and meet competing deadlines by using judgement and initiative.
- Proven project coordination experience, with an understanding of the project life cycle and development of project plans, objectives and documentation including developing study protocols, completing ethical and regulatory applications and modifications and reporting.
- Experience with research project coordination including financial management, management of clinical data collection in Good Clinical Practice (GCP), data transfer and database development and maintenance, and data cleaning and analysis in a clinical trial context.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and productively within a team (including multiple stakeholders), but also to take initiative and work independently while managing competing demands.
- Willingness and ability to travel locally and interstate, as required.
- An understanding of and commitment to UNSW’s aims, objectives and values in action, together with relevant policies and guidelines.
- Knowledge of health & safety (psychosocial and physical) responsibilities and commitment to attending relevant health and safety training.
