  • Remuneration: Level 6 $103,866 - $110,801 (depending on experience) + 17% super + leave loading
  • Location: UNSW Kensington Campus, NSW (hybrid)

Why Your Role Matters:

As Student Communications Officer, you help students feel informed, supported and confident as they navigate university life, particularly during onboarding, Orientation Week and key transition points.

Working in close partnership with the Student Communications Coordinator, you’ll deliver clear, timely and student-centred communications across the student lifecycle. This includes a strong focus on onboarding, student life initiatives and support for diverse cohorts, including international students.

You’ll bring a fresh perspective, sound judgement and strong attention to detail to continuously improve how the University communicates with its students.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the delivery of high-quality, timely and accurate student communications across digital channels
  • Work closely with the Student Communications Coordinator to plan and deliver content
  • Support onboarding, Orientation Week and the student life portfolio, including collaboration with international and student services teams
  • Create, edit and optimise content for web, email, social media and video, translating complex information into clear, student-focused messaging
  • Manage and maintain communications within the University’s CRM and email platforms
  • Monitor content performance, contribute to reporting and drive continuous improvement
  • Respond to student enquiries and triage issues as required
  • Build strong relationships with stakeholders and confidently manage expectations.
  • Support student feedback activities and contribute to low-fi visual content creation when required

Who You Are:

You’re a detail-oriented communications professional with strong copywriting skills and a collaborative, practical approach. You bring confidence, common sense and sound judgement to your work.

You’ll bring:

  • A relevant qualification and/or experience in communications, education or a related field
  • Experience creating digital content across web, email, social and video
  • Strong ability to turn dense or complex information into clear, engaging student communications
  • Excellent attention to detail and strong time-management skills
  • Confidence in stakeholder management and experience in building strong relationships
  • Knowledge of digital best practice, analytics and SEO
  • Strong computer literacy, including Microsoft Office
  • Experience in higher education or the broader education sector highly regarded
