Why this role matters 

We are seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Fellow to join our research team on a major data linkage project. This role will involve leading the project from inception to dissemination, including ethics applications, data management and analysis, and manuscript drafting for publication. The role will play a pivotal role in advancing evidence-based insights through linked administrative datasets.

The role of Post-Doctoral Fellow reports to the Associate Professor and has no direct reports.

 

Some key accountabilities required

  • Lead a complex data-linkage project end to end, from ethics approvals to data integration, analysis, and timely milestone delivery.
  • Work collaboratively with research partners, data custodians, and interdisciplinary teams to drive high-quality outcomes.
  • Produce strong research outputs, including journal manuscripts and national/international conference presentations.
  • Build your independent research profile by designing projects and contributing to competitive grant applications.
  • Support and mentor emerging researchers, contributing to HDR supervision and a positive academic culture.
  • Uphold the highest standards of research integrity, ensuring compliance, data security, and safe working practices.

Some key skills required

  • A PhD in Public Health, Epidemiology, Biostatistics, Data Science, or a related discipline.
  • Demonstrated experience in health administrative datasets and linkage methodologies applying advanced statistical methods
  • Demonstrated track record in research with outcomes of high quality and high impact with clear evidence of the desire and ability to continually achieve research excellence as well as the capacity for research leadership.
  • Experience preparing ethics applications and navigating research governance processes.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Proven commitment to proactively keeping up to date with discipline knowledge and developments.
  • A track record of significant involvement with the profession and/or industry.
  • High level communication skills and ability to network effectively and interact with a diverse range of students and staff.
  • Evidence of highly developed interpersonal and organisational skills.
