Why Your Role Matters:
The Social Media Officer plays a crucial role in meeting the growing demand for engaging short-form vertical video content across UNSW’s social media channels. By creating compelling videos that showcase campus life, highlight impactful research stories and elevate UNSW’s global reputation, this role directly supports the University’s strategic vision, Progress for All.
You will be joining an industry-leading team of social media professionals who guide UNSW’s social media strategy and policies, create content for domestic and international audiences, and manage engagement across our online communities. Your contributions will help communicate the University’s best stories and inspire our diverse social media communities.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, script, produce, edit and publish short-form vertical video content for UNSW’s social media channels.
- Capture mobile videography that showcases campus life, research breakthroughs and stories that strengthen UNSW’s global brand and reputation.
- Appear on camera as required in the content you create.
- Use contemporary video editing tools (such as CapCut) to deliver polished, platform-appropriate content.
- Conduct research to identify stories, trends and opportunities that enhance UNSW’s social media presence.
- Collaborate closely with the social media team, colleagues across the university and relevant stakeholders to bring stories to life.
- Ensure all content aligns with UNSW’s social media strategy, policies and broader communications objectives.
About You
- You are an experienced social-first content creator with strong skills in mobile videography and modern short-form editing tools.
- You are confident in researching, scripting, producing and appearing in your own content.
- You bring creativity, initiative and a collaborative mindset, thriving in a team that values bold ideas and pushes social media storytelling to new heights.
- You enjoy working with stakeholders across a large, dynamic organisation and can translate their stories into compelling digital content.
