About UNSW:
UNSW isn’t like other places you’ve worked. Yes, we’re a large organisation with a diverse and talented community; a community doing extraordinary things. Together, we are driven to be thoughtful, practical, and purposeful in all we do. Taking this combined approach is what makes our work matter. It’s the reason we’re one of the top 20 universities in the world and a member of Australia’s prestigious Group of Eight. If you want a career where you can thrive, be challenged and do meaningful work, you’re in the right place.
Why Your Role Matters:
The Future Students Activity Coordinator is a key part of the Faculty of Engineering at UNSW. You’ll work closely with the Future Student Recruitment team, which sits within the university’s Marketing and Digital Experience function, and with the Engineering Schools to design and deliver fun, hands-on activities for high school students. These activities are often a student’s first taste of what it’s like to study engineering at UNSW, so your work has a real impact.
You’ll inspire the next generation of engineers through in-person events, online sessions for international students, and high school visits, ensuring students leave feeling excited and informed about UNSW Engineering. You’ll also collaborate with the central Future Students group to make sure recruitment activities across the Faculty run smoothly and effectively.
Key Responsibilities:
- Create and run engaging, hands-on activities that show high school students what studying Engineering at UNSW is all about.
- Work with the embedded Engineering Future Student Recruitment Team, central Future Students teams, and offshore teams to make sure activities line up with Faculty priorities.
- Collaborate with academics to co-develop programs that showcase the range of Engineering disciplines.
- Take part in events like Open Days and Info Days, sharing degree information and helping students navigate their options.
- Work with student ambassadors and attend external events like high school visits and career expos to deliver and oversee Engineering activities.
- Evaluate how activities are going and make improvements based on student feedback and audience needs.
- Provide a student-focused service while living UNSW Values in Action and keeping health and safety top of mind.
About You:
- You’ve got a relevant tertiary qualification or equivalent experience through education, training, or work.
- You know your way around Engineering and high school education (including the NESA STEM curriculum). Experience teaching STEM is a plus.
- You’re a team player who can juggle priorities and work with a range of stakeholders.
- You’re adaptable and a confident communicator, able to engage different audiences.
- You pay attention to detail and take pride in delivering high-quality programs.
- You can work independently, take initiative, and solve problems while keeping the bigger picture in mind.
- You enjoy interacting with high school students, parents, and staff from diverse backgrounds.
- You’re organised and can manage your time effectively to meet multiple deadlines.
