Why Your Role Matters
As a Scholarships Officer, you’ll play a key role in delivering a diverse range of scholarship programs at UNSW — including equity, merit-based, faculty, externally funded, and international scholarships. You’ll help manage the full scholarship lifecycle, from application to payment, ensuring smooth and compliant administration.
Beyond scholarships, you’ll also support other student financial initiatives, contributing to the broader mission of enhancing student support. Reporting to the Scholarships Team Leader, this role works closely with senior staff and colleagues across the University to provide outstanding service to students and stakeholders.
This is a fixed term contract, approved until the end of August 2026 at this stage.
Role Summary
- Provide administrative and operational support for a wide range of scholarship programs and funding sources
- Assist with end-to-end scholarship processes — from advertising and application intake to assessment, payments, and progression tracking
- Respond to student and stakeholder enquiries, escalating complex cases where needed
- Maintain accurate records in scholarship and student systems, ensuring compliance and data integrity
- Support general administrative and operational tasks to meet team priorities
- Prepare reports, data extracts, and documentation for internal and external use
- Contribute to system testing, process improvements, and efficiency initiatives
- Support other student financial programs and initiatives
- Assist with scholarship events such as information sessions, award ceremonies, and outreach activities
- Collaborate with faculties and administrative units to ensure consistent and effective scholarship delivery
- Provide general administrative support to the Scholarships team, including meeting coordination and communication
Who You Are
We are looking for someone who is aligned with UNSW’s vision and comes with:
- Previous experience dealing with scholarship applications ideally or in student finances
- Strong excel skills and analytical skills
- Strong written and verbal communication, organisational, administrative, and customer service skills
- Proven ability to work collaboratively and effectively in a team, preferably in customer service and higher education settings
- Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact professionally with people from diverse backgrounds
- High attention to detail and accuracy, especially in high-volume or peak processing environments
- Ability to interpret and apply policies and procedures, and contribute to business operations and improvements
- Capable of working independently, using initiative, and supporting or guiding others as needed
- Demonstrates strong time management and multitasking abilities, with a flexible and adaptable approach to shifting priorities in fast-paced, dynamic environments
The successful person will be required to work over the Christmas shutdown and occasionally be available after hours or during weekends.
