Why your role matters  

 As the UNSW Sport Programs Officer you will be responsible for providing exceptional support and services to our elite athlete students and contribute to inclusive UNSW Sport initiatives and activities in support of equity, diversity, accessibility and participation by all UNSW Students in physical activity.  

This role involves managing communication channels, liaising with academics and staff in relevant UNSW support services, coordinating travel grants, organising and coordinating events, implementing and managing resources and supports to our Elite Athletes, assisting in the Elite Athlete Program (EAP) annual scholarship process and ensuring efficient handling of administrative tasks.  

You will work closely with various university departments and stakeholders, including our athletes, Arc@UNSW, and partner sporting organisations, to enhance the student experience and facilitate support and academic flexibility for our UNSW elite athletes and UNSW students participating in sport and physical wellbeing initiatives. 

   

About You:          

  • Relevant tertiary qualification with subsequent relevant experience or equivalent competence gained through any combination of education, training and experience. 

  • A comprehensive understanding of the opportunities and challenges elite athletes experience as sporting professionals, combined with simultaneous opportunities and challenges they experience as tertiary students would be highly regarded. 

  • Excellent time management and organisational skills, and the ability to work well under pressure and manage multiple tasks with competing deadlines.  

  • Experience and capability to plan, organise, co-ordinate and deliver inclusive student physical wellbeing and sporting engagement activations, projects and tasks.  

  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to liaise and communicate with a range of stakeholders.  

  • Highly proficient computer literacy with excellent skills in Microsoft Office applications.  

  • Capacity to collect information including relevant data and statistics on initiatives and programs and contribute to assessing the impact of and reporting on programs. 

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.  

  • An understanding of and commitment to UNSW’s aims, objectives and values in action, together with relevant policies and guidelines.
