We’re seeking a strategic and detail-oriented Manager, Student Governance & Projects to join the newly established Engagement & Student Success team within the Pro Vice-Chancellor Student Success (PVCSS) portfolio. This pivotal role will lead the coordination of portfolio student governance, compliance, and risk management frameworks that underpin student success and wellbeing and represent the portfolio in university-wide forums, audits, and reviews.
In this role, you will lead and maintain student governance and compliance frameworks across the portfolio to ensure alignment with university and legislative requirements, provide strategic advice to the PVCSS leadership team on higher education standards, governance, and student success strategies, coordinate the development and management of key governance documents including committee constitutions, terms of reference, and policy papers. Support committees and working groups through effective secretariat functions, reporting, and stakeholder consultation. As well as analyse sector trends, policy changes, and student data to inform continuous improvement in governance and project delivery.
This role contributes to strategic and operational requirements of portfolio, establishing key impact metrics and reporting mechanisms to demonstrate how the portfolio targets and goals are met as outlined in the UNSW strategic and operational plans
About You:
You’re a governance professional who thrives in complex environments and understands how structure and integrity support student success. You’ll bring:

A relevant tertiary qualification with substantial experience in governance, compliance, or policy within a large organisation.

3–5 years’ experience as a Committee or Company Secretary, ideally within the tertiary education sector.

Strong understanding of higher education standards, governance systems, and reporting requirements.

Proven ability to lead projects and manage competing priorities in dynamic settings.

Excellent interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills, with experience preparing high-quality reports and policy documents for diverse audiences.

Ability to function effectively and independently with the capacity to take responsibility, exercise independent judgement and proactively address and resolve complex problems as they arise, including at senior levels to negotiate and agree on outcomes.
