Why Your Role Matters 


The Student Experience Business Partner is a strategic, relationship-focused role responsible for connecting faculties with central educational and student services. Acting as a trusted advisor, the role ensures faculty-specific student support aligns with University priorities, enhances the student experience, and drives continuous improvement. The role provides insight across the student lifecycle—from transition and enrolment  through to retention, academic success, and completion. The role reports to the Head of Stakeholder Relations, and has at least one direct report. 

Main Responsibilities Summary 

  • Provide strategic advice to faculties and Divisional leadership on student services, policies, and initiatives 
  • Lead and support projects designed to improve service delivery, operational efficiency, and the student experience 
  • Drive continuous improvement by identifying trends, implementing innovations, and collaborating with faculties and central teams 
  • Adapt and implement central service initiatives to ensure fit with local faculty contexts and stakeholder engagement 
  • Contribute Divisional insights to faculty planning, governance, and decision-making processes 
  • Build and maintain strong relationships across faculties, other business partner networks and central teams to promote an integrated, ‘one-University’ approach 
  • Lead, mentor, and develop staff to optimise team capability, engagement, and performance 
  • Prepare reports, analysis, and recommendations to inform operational planning and strategic decisions 

Who You Are 

We are looking for someone who has a strategic mindset, who is customer-centric, aligned with UNSW’s vision and values, bringing: 

  • Extensive experience in business partnering and stakeholder management 
  • Proven ability to build and maintain strong relationships with diverse stakeholders, supporting successful outcomes and managing service-level expectations 
  • Experience in evaluating, redesigning, and improving customer service processes, including setting metrics, monitoring results, and implementing enhancements 
  • Demonstrated ability to provide strategic advice to senior stakeholders and identifying priorities for continuous improvement 
  • Track record of managing complex projects focused on service delivery and business objectives 
  • Experience in leading, developing, and managing staff  
  • Knowledge in Higher Education operations with hands-on experience in student or academic services (preferred) 
  • Experience in navigating complex organisational structures, governance frameworks, and matrixed or business-partnering models 
  • Familiarity with service excellence principles, performance metrics, and human-centred design approaches 

Candidates will need to have ongoing working rights – this role is not available for sponsorship.  

We will need the successful person to sometimes be available during the Christmas/New Year period and occasionally on weekends and after-hours.
