Why Your Role Matters:
The Academic Calendar Project, led by the Provost’s Office, is responsible for developing and implementing the future academic calendar for UNSW.
The Senior Project Officer plays a key role in providing project management support, reporting, developing effective organisation wide communications, supporting change management activities, building key internal and external stakeholder relationships and consulting on multiple, concurrent project streams.
This role reports to the Calendar Lead and has no direct reports.
Responsibilities:
- In collaboration with the Calendar Lead, develop and determine project scope, writing of project charters, timeline development and participate in other planning processes as required.
- Assess, manage and update project risks and issues, ensuring that deliverables are defined, emerging issues escalated, and opportunities identified.
- Routinely monitor, track and report on the status of project deliverables according to baselined plans to meet strategic priorities for the division’s portfolio.
- Liaise with key stakeholders to determine areas for improvement and develop action plans as a result.
- Communicate actions to project team and follow up engagement to ensure progress and actions remain in scope.
- Develop and manage effective project communications with key stakeholders, both internal and external to the University.
- Develop and coordinate the change management activities for the academic calendar project and initiatives in collaboration with the team members.
- Utilise quantitative and qualitative data and liaise with relevant stakeholders to develop and edit content for organisational wide project communications.

Skills and Experience Summary:
- Relevant tertiary qualification with a depth of subsequent relevant experience or equivalent competence gained through any combination of education, training, and experience.
- Ability to plan, organise and co-ordinate projects and tasks and experience in developing project documentation associated with different stages of the project life cycle.
- Demonstrated experience in distilling complex information into simple messages for communication to a diverse group of stakeholders.
- Excellent time management and organisational skills, with the ability to navigate through competing deadlines.
- Superior written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to create planning and project documents, develop communications and content, present materials, contribute to meetings, prepare project charters and display data in an engaging manner.
- Demonstrated interpersonal and stakeholder management skills, including consultation, influencing, communication, negotiating and networking skills, along with the ability to liaise and work effectively with a range of stakeholders to achieve successful outcomes.
