THE ROLE
As Specialist Claims you will report to the National Manager – Claims, within out Compass Care team. You will be responsible for providing claims management services to support multiple business sectors in achieving safe, durable and timely claims outcomes. You will support the business with a focus on effective and efficient service delivery, ensuring systems and process compliance, implementing initiatives and innovations, and working with others to improve or enhance the business’s existing approach.
Aligned to the business’s purpose and values, this role is integral in the delivery of the business’s claims management and related injury management services. The role supports the business’s commitment per its injury management policy and associated practice per the injury management supporting recovery at work procedure.
As part of your role you will be required to, but not limited to:
- Ensure all actions comply with policies, procedures, systems, processes, workflows, legislation and regulatory requirements.
- Make notifications of incidents and/or claims
- Assist with the timely collection and consolidation of factual information relating to the determination of liability and/or potential third-party recoveries
- Ensure claims records associated with notifications, triage, investigations, examinations, insured parties, insurance policies, contacts, providers/suppliers, case management, and the like are appropriately maintained
- Complete accurate and timely calculation of income compensation.
- Ensure the accurate and timely receipt, recording and reconciliation of income compensation payments and where relevant medical and like expenses
- Provide assistance with the implementation and monitoring of legal, system and process compliance, providing feedback when required on issues of non-compliance
THE PERSON
Essential:
- Minimum 10 years’ experience in personal injury insurance, with a strong focus on Workers Compensation
- In-depth knowledge of national Workers Compensation legislation, liability determination, dispute resolution, and common law claims
- Proven expertise in:
- Managing complex and litigated claims
- Driving successful outcomes across multiple stakeholders
- Third-party recovery and commercial claim finalisation
- Coaching and mentoring internal and external partners
Desirable:
- Degree in Law or relevant industry training in complex claims management
- Experience as a technical specialist or in a similar high-level role
- Exposure to multiple insurance lines and claims systems
- Background with an insurer, claims agent, or large employer handling complex cases
