The Position:

In a period of growth, we are actively recruiting a  National Safety Lead for Continuous Improvement who will work collaboratively across all Australian sites with the broader safety and business teams in supporting the delivery of the Organisations Risk ,Assurance and Safety project strategy and support the business in continuous improvement and compliance with the Compass Group Health, Safety, Environment & Quality (HSEQ) and Risk Management Systems.  

The role provides subject matter expert technical advice and support, while managing and leading the strategic design, development, and implementation of risk management, assurance and national continuous improvement projects, processes, and initiatives across CGA. The role is critical in leading improvement in risk and safety culture characterised by care and respect and accountability for performance.  The role, in partnership with line leaders and business partners is instrumental in engaging and connecting every employee to our risk and safety systems and values.

  • Work collaboratively with the People & Safety leaders, operational management, and support services teams to deliver the CGA MRA Process and Risk Safety Strategy, including developing, maintaining and reporting on risk bow ties, business continuity and implementing  project and change management plans
  • Building and leveraging effective stakeholder relationships to achieve business objectives
  • In partnership with line leaders be instrumental in engaging and connecting every employee to our safety values
  • Lead the delivery from inception to implementation of CGA risk process and audits assuring alignment to CGA safety strategy and performance measures
  • Fostering a high performing organisation through continuous improvement and innovation
  • Lead and coach safety business partners and operational management in risk management processes and audit processes
  • Design, develop, implement and drive enhancement strategies to support processes required in order to meet internal and external risk, assurance and at times safety obligations
  • Lead ongoing process simplification and improvement strategies which drive compliance to safety management tools and procedures
  • Manage the CGA wide design, development, and delivery of safety training in HSEQ rules, regulations and best practices
  • Lead ongoing assurance, improvement and delivery of audits, establishing and maintaining procedures across the business that are closely aligned with the company’s systems including regulatory review, implementation of reporting and recording and solutions including but not limited to psychosocial management, compass clip and verification of competency compliance deployment or other key safety projects.

The Person:

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience  in project management, risk management or Assurance
  • Minimum bachelor’s degree or higher in a relevant field
  • Led large transformational safety projects
  • Lead large Culture transformation projects
  • Experience in design and delivery of simplified Risk and Assurance Framework including supporting quality document framework
  • Ability to lead/influence General Managers in adoption and collective approach to work in a highly diverse environment with highly diverse clientele
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office and web-based software applications
  • Ability to self-manage work and travel independently
  • Exceptional communication and relationship building abilities
  • Ability to drive stakeholder engagement and deliver superior service levels
  • Display excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong negotiation, problem solving and decision-making skills whilst thinking on your feet
  • In-depth knowledge of health and safety, a strong commitment to safety to ensure targets are safely achieved
