At The Star Entertainment Group, our purpose is simple: to be Australia’s entertainment destination of choice. With The Star Brisbane at the heart of the new Queen’s Wharf Precinct, we’re transforming how people play, shop, and socialize in the river city. Offering world-class hotels, dining, luxury retail, gaming, and a state-of-the-art Event Centre, we’re delivering a new era of hospitality in Brisbane.

About the Role:

We’re seeking a dynamic Audio Visual (AV) Supervisor to join our team at the iconic Queen’s Wharf Precinct. Reporting to the Resort Technical Manager, you’ll play a vital role overseeing the installation, setup, maintenance and production of AV across the entire precinct—including LED displays, integrated lighting systems, and distributed public address systems.

You’ll ensure seamless support for events, entertainment, property-wide AV systems, in-room hotel technology, and activations. This is a full-time permanent position with a compressed work schedule that rotates every 4 weeks.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with two fellow AV Supervisors to oversee daily operations of a 15-person AV Technician team, including roster and budget management.
  • Supervise task execution, resolve escalations, and conduct regular team performance reviews.
  • Contribute technical expertise to support event proposals and create exceptional on-site event experiences.
  • Coordinate all technical requirements for lighting, sound, and audio-visual production for entertainment and events.
  • Monitor, operate, and maintain all AV equipment across the precinct.
  • Manage the property’s AV systems, including audio and video over IP platforms, as well as hotel in-room technology.
  • Liaise with suppliers for equipment purchase, servicing and repairs.
  • Provide internal training to empower the team to deliver outstanding service and technical support.

About You

You’re a natural leader and collaborator, known for your strong organisational skills and ability to inspire a team that delivers unforgettable AV experiences. You take pride in mentoring technicians while ensuring operational excellence. You’re skilled at translating complex technical concepts into clear communication for non-technical stakeholders.

You’ll also bring:

  • Proven experience across audio, visual, and lighting disciplines within an event centre, production company, or live entertainment venue.
  • Strong ability to communicate technical AV, lighting, sound, and safety requirements to diverse stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience, including team management, rostering, and budgeting.
  • Solid technical knowledge of IP-based platforms such as Dante, IPTV, SCALA, and Q-SYS.
  • A passion for continuous learning and working with cutting-edge AV technologies.
  • A proactive approach to staying ahead of AV trends and innovations that elevate guest experiences.

Benefits

  • 5 weeks annual leave.
  • Complimentary meal on-site every day, including hot meals, sandwich bar, and more.
  • Flexible working arrangements in a hybrid model.
  • Heavily discounted city parking at $8/day.
  • Up to 30% discounts across award-winning restaurants and accommodation.
  • Career development, training, and courses via The Star Academy – limitless career opportunities.
  • An organization that values diversity, teamwork, and being your best self.
  • Lifestyle discounts, including gym memberships, retail offers, and dry-cleaning services.
  • Paid parental leave from Day 1, with secondary carer’s leave also available.
  • Access to mental health and well-being services.
