Job Summary
Reporting to the Director of Enrollment Marketing, the Enrollment Marketing Manager advances strategic marketing initiatives designed to increase awareness and interest in the college among prospective students, families, counselors, and other key audiences. The Manager will develop and implement integrated marketing campaigns through email, social media, print, and web. Responsibilities include content creation, campaign scheduling, performance tracking, segmenting audience lists, and collaborating with internal partners on creative development and project timelines. This position is ideal for a creative, detail-oriented marketer with strong writing skills and a strategic mindset. The Manager will work closely with colleagues in the offices of Admission and Marketing and Communications and contribute to projects that support student recruitment, campus visits, yield efforts, and transfer enrollment.
Job Duties
- 30% - Marketing Campaign Content Development and Oversight - Lead the development of audience-specific content for integrated marketing campaigns across email, web, social media, and print. Apply strong writing skills and editorial judgment to ensure messaging aligns with the institutional voice, enrollment strategy, and communication goals. Collaborate with internal partners to shape content that resonates with prospective students and their families, providing guidance on tone, format, and channel selection. Manage campaign content timelines and contribute to performance evaluation and refinement. - (Essential)
- 20% - Email Campaign Execution and Slate Platform Management - Independently build, test, and deploy segmented email campaigns using the Slate CRM system to support recruitment and enrollment goals. Apply a working knowledge of HTML to ensure accurate formatting and to troubleshoot delivery issues. Maintain campaign calendars, manage audience lists, and contribute to message sequencing and content optimization. Collaborate with the Admission and Operations teams to ensure campaign accuracy, responsiveness, and effectiveness at each stage of the enrollment funnel. - (Essential)
- 15% - Third-Party Platform Strategy and Content Management - Manage Occidental’s presence on third-party college search and marketing platforms (e.g., Niche, Cappex, College Board) to ensure content accuracy, brand consistency, and strategic alignment with recruitment goals. Regularly audit and update copy, imagery, institutional data, and promotional content. Use platform-specific tools and analytics to identify opportunities for increased visibility and engagement, and to drive strategy. Serve as a liaison between platform representatives and internal stakeholders to optimize Occidental’s digital reach among prospective students. - (Essential)
- 15% - Print Collateral Management - Manage the updating, production, and distribution of print materials that support student recruitment, including flyers, brochures, and event collateral. Ensure content and design align with institutional branding and enrollment messaging. Monitor inventory levels, assess usage trends, and initiate reprints to maintain availability across key touchpoints. Coordinate with internal stakeholders and external vendors to oversee quality, timelines, and delivery logistics. - (Essential)
- 10% - Promotional Item Strategy and Vendor Coordination - Oversee the sourcing, ordering, and inventory tracking of branded promotional items used for student recruitment and outreach. Recommend merchandise aligned with Occidental’s brand identity and audience preferences. Coordinate with vendors to manage timelines, design proofs, order quantities, and delivery logistics. Evaluate the usage and effectiveness of materials to inform future purchasing decisions. - (Essential)
- 10% - Social Media Content Strategy and Paid Promotion Management - Contribute to planning and managing the execution of enrollment-focused social media content by identifying high-impact stories, sourcing creative assets, and advising on timing, tone, and platform fit. Recommend strategic post boosting to extend reach among prospective student audiences and implement and track paid promotions. Monitor engagement metrics and apply insights into future campaign recommendations in alignment with recruitment goals. - (Essential)
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, journalism, English, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Three years of professional experience in marketing, communications, or a related area.
- Experience supporting content development and/or campaign execution across print, digital, or social platforms.
- Familiarity with email marketing systems or content management tools; basic knowledge of HTML.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to tailor content to diverse audiences and platforms (email, print, web, social media).
- Basic understanding of marketing principles, including audience segmentation, campaign planning, and digital engagement.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
- Attention to detail and commitment to accuracy, especially when preparing communications or managing print materials.
- Ability to organize and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- Capacity to learn new tools and systems quickly; openness to feedback and collaborative problem-solving.

- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Google drives/folders/forms, Adobe Acrobat, Web Editing, and social media applications or any combination of productivity programs applicable to position responsibilities.

Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in a higher education setting, especially in a liberal arts college setting.
- Familiarity with design software such as Adobe Creative Suite or Canva.
- Prior experience using Slate or another CRM system in a higher education or nonprofit setting.
- Exposure to paid social media promotion or digital advertising tools.
- Understanding digital advertising or social media boosting strategies is a plus.
- Hands-on experience with video editing for social media (e.g., Instagram Reels, TikTok, YouTube Shorts).
EXPECTED HIRING RANGE: $68,640/yr-$77,700/yr
If you are offered this position at Occidental College, your final base salary compensation will be determined based on factors such as skills, education, experience, and/or geographic location. In addition to those factors, Occidental complies with applicable pay equity laws and considers internal equity among current employees when developing the final offer. Please keep in mind that the range mentioned above is the base salary range for the role. Hiring at the maximum of the range would not be typical in order to allow for future and continued salary growth. We also offer a generous compensation and benefits package.
