Job Description:
Under the general supervision from Assistant to the Chair, this position provides administrative support to the Department of Neurology including daily assistance and organizational support to the departmental function, faculty, and programs. This position provides support to the residency, clerkship and neurology fellowship programs. Performs complex administrative duties handling confidential and time-sensitive information.
Minimum Qualifications:
1. High school diploma. Associate degree in secretarial sciences strongly preferred.
2. Previous training and experience in office practices (preferably an academic setting), procedures and public relations required. Practices include scheduling in Outlook, typing, organizing and practicing office efficiency.
3. Previous experience in coordinating and organizing academic programs and events strongly preferred.
4. Two or more years’ experience working in an academic teaching office setting, strongly preferred.
5. Extensive scheduling experience using Outlook calendar required.
6. Expertise with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint and Web Ex required.
7. Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work appropriately with and maintain harmonious relationships so as to work appropriately with people on all levels including, but not limited to physicians, nurses, administration and ancillary personnel required.
8. Excellent verbal and written communication skills required; able to compose own correspondence and ability to gain the confidence of others.
9. Ability to gather, collate and classify information according to established methods. Must have excellent organizational skills, be detail-oriented, and be able to manage several tasks at one time.
10. Ability to grasp concepts and work with minimum supervision as needed
