They will have demonstrable skills as an effective instructor of introductory through advanced courses in environmental, economic, developmental anthropology. The successful candidate will have an interest in topics related to migration, African societies and cultures, and/or global issues in anthropology. They will demonstrate the ability to mentor students. They will work independently and collaboratively with anthropology and sociology faculty to provide the course curriculum to undergraduate and graduate students, and other projects or duties as needed. |

The Department of History and Philosophy at the University of West Florida invites applications for a position in Philosophy for a 9-month, full-time Instructor of Philosophy position, to begin August 2025. The Department seeks to hire an individual whose area of specialization includes at least one of the following: ancient philosophy, environmental philosophy (including environmental ethics and philosophy of environmental science), philosophy of technology, and political philosophy. Of particular interest to the department is someone who has the ability to teach ethical issues in artificial intelligence. A substantial component of the teaching load will be dedicated to teaching introductory courses such as Introduction to Philosophy and Introduction to Ethics (i.e., “Ethics in Contemporary Society”). Teaching load is 4 courses per semester. Summer teaching opportunities are available, subject to course demand. Competitive applicants will have demonstrated teaching excellence in the areas related to the Department’s teaching needs. A Ph.D. in Philosophy or related field is preferred. The position includes service obligations which may include activities such as coordinating departmental assessment, recruitment, and participation in planning program curriculum.
