Working Title: | Assistant Director, Fraternity and Sorority Life |
Job Summary: | The Assistant Director of Fraternity and Sorority Life is responsible for managing student success programs and services in the areas of Fraternity and Sorority Life. This position will provide guidance and support for student leadership development and administrative efforts by serving as the primary advisor to all active and recognized Fraternity and Sorority Life chapters, councils, and 400+ student members. Oversee the coordination of all Fraternity and Sorority Life programs, initiatives, events, and administration. Represent the University when engaging with regional and national chapter and council representatives. Responsible for interpreting and applying university policies, managing resources, budget management, contract process, assessment, risk management, and ensuring accessibility accommodations. Responsible for ensuring that Fraternity and Sorority Life programming and experiences are in compliance with local, state, and federal laws. All Student Engagement employees will assist with additional Student Engagement department-wide initiatives and campus events as assigned. |

Minimum Qualifications: | Masters degree in an appropriate area of specialization and two years of appropriate experience: or a bachelors degree in an appropriate area of specialization and four years of appropriate experience. |
Position Qualifications: | Demonstrated ability and knowledge of the functions, operations, programming, and student involvement components of a comprehensive Fraternity & Sorority system. Experience engaging with campus fraternity and sorority chapter and council officers, and planning and implementing fraternity and sorority life programs. Knowledge of fraternal councils and their national organizations. Experience with non-academic advising students, individually and in groups. Basic assessment practices and principles for student affairs programs and services. Experience and skill in conflict resolution. Knowledge of campus life and higher education issues. Ability to function effectively in unexpected or emergency situations. Experience and skill in dealing with multiple constituents, including faculty, students, administrators, and external. Ability to troubleshoot problems, make complex decisions, and resolve multiple problems simultaneously. Ability to work effectively under pressure. Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information. Computing skills. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. |
Preferred Qualifications | Master's degree in higher education, college student affairs administration, student development or related field with three years of experience in higher education. Experience in engaging with local, regional, and national representatives within the Fraternity & Sorority system. Experience in developing, coordinating and leading programs and group training sessions. Knowledgeable of local, state, and federal laws which impact the work associated with Fraternity & Sorority Life. |
