Job Summary: | The University of West Florida is seeking candidates for a 9-month full-time, tenure-eligible faculty position at the rank of Associate Professor or Professor in the School of Nursing. The incoming faculty will possess a strong track record of nursing research with external funding and willingness and ability to provide visionary leadership and mentorship of faculty colleagues and students. This role will involve engaging in collaborative nursing research that aligns with the university's mission to advance knowledge and practice in nursing care. The ideal candidate will be passionate about improving patient outcomes, conducting innovative research, and contributing to advancing nursing science. This position offers the opportunity to work with faculty, students, and interdisciplinary teams to design, conduct, and disseminate high-quality research. The candidate should have research interests that complement and expand existing expertise in the School of Nursing. Research areas of particular interest include biobehavioral clinical research for populations across the lifespan, wellness and health equity promotion, community-engaged research, and healthcare systems science, including quality and safety research. The candidate will also support the school with teaching responsibilities at the graduate level through the advisement and mentorship of graduate students. Rank and salary are commensurate with experience and preparation. Position Responsibilities: ● Identifies funding opportunities and develops competitive grant proposals ● Maintains a program of research supported by external funding ● Contributes to enhanced effectiveness of the community of scholars ● Maintains teaching activity in the graduate program ● Engages faculty, students, and staff to foster a diverse community at UWF ● Establishes an integrated academic life, contributing to the teaching, research, and service missions ● Demonstrates an entrepreneurial mindset to pursue diverse external funding sources in the expansion of the University research mission; navigate nimbly among traditional research and scholarship opportunities (e.g., NIH, NINR, HRSA, private industry, etc.) and emerging funding sources ● Collaborates with faculty and other researchers to foster interdisciplinary research projects. |

Minimum Qualifications: | Associate Professor: Holds the highest degree appropriate to the field or possesses professional qualifications in the field above those that would be equivalent to the highest degree. Normally, an associate professor will have produced creative work, professional writing, or research; and have had successful teaching or professional experience in the field of specialization. The appointee engages in teaching, scholarship and creative projects, and/or service and other related activities. Professor: Holds the highest degree appropriate to the field or possesses professional qualifications in the field, which would be equivalent to the highest degree. Normally, a professor will have produced significant creative work, professional writing, or research, have had successful teaching or professional experience; and be a recognized authority or an outstanding teacher in the field of specialization. The appointee engages in teaching, scholarship and creative projects, and/or service and other related activities. |
Position Qualifications: | Research doctoral degree with at least one degree in nursing. Active RN license or eligible for licensure in Florida. Demonstrated achievement in scholarship with an established program of research that complements the areas of emphasis within the School, including but not limited to bio-behavioral, wellness and health equity promotion, community-engaged research, and healthcare systems science ● Current or past funded research ● Teaching experience at the graduate level ● Demonstrated excellence in and passion for mentoring colleagues and students ● Eligible to receive federally funded grants |
