Job Summary: | The Medical Laboratory Department at the University of West Florida in Pensacola, FL is seeking a chairperson with expertise in Clinical Laboratory Sciences for a Chair/Instructor appointment starting July 2025. This program has been in effect in Pensacola for over 40 years and has had NAACLS accreditation since 1985. The successful candidate will be expected to provide exceptional administration, leadership, and instruction at the undergraduate level. The chairperson will also serve as the program director for the NAACLS accredited MLS program. Teaching assignments will be in areas of Medical Laboratory Sciences including Chemistry, Hematology, and Immunohematology and other related fields. The successful candidate will also engage in department, college, university, community, and professional service. The successful candidate will have demonstrated a record of achievement in administration, teaching, and service. This position is not tenure eligible. |

Minimum Qualifications: | Holds at least the master's degree in an appropriate specialization or the equivalent qualifications based on professional experience and is otherwise qualified to perform assigned duties. The appointee may engage in teaching, scholarship and creative projects, and/or service and other related activities, but is not eligible for tenure. |
Position Qualifications: | The candidate must have a master’s in clinical laboratory sciences or other scientific discipline such as biology or chemistry. The candidate must have current ASCP Certification as a Medical Laboratory Scientist or Medical Technologist and have graduated from a NAACLS accredited MLS program. The candidate must have a current Florida state license as a Medical Technologist or be willing to get one. The candidate must have classroom teaching experience in a NAACLS accredited MLS program. The candidate must have administration and accreditation experience. |
Preferred Qualifications | A preferred candidate will have: - A PhD or Doctorate in Medical Laboratory Sciences or closely related scientific discipline and have a demonstrated record of achievement in teaching and service. - Experience with online teaching and learning platforms such as Canvas. - Experience with developing and teaching labs both face to face and online. - Experience with NAACLS accreditation processes - Administration experience |
