Job Summary: | The Commuter Student Services Support Specialist supports the daily operations of commuter programs and the Hub Commuter Lounge located within the University Commons. This position plans, organizes, implements and evaluates programs and services that support the retention and degree completion of commuter students. Collaborates with campus partners to ensure commuter student needs are fully integrated into programs and services. Additionally, creates and implements engaging programmatic efforts to support commuter students and programs around strategic events impacting the commuter population including National Transfer Student Week, Commuter Student Appreciation Week, etc. This position directly advises the Commuter Student Association student organization. The incumbent connects students to appropriate campus resources to enhance community life and campus experience. |

Minimum Qualifications: | Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization. |
Position Qualifications: | Knowledge of commuter programs or event planning principles. Basic assessment practices and principles for student programs and services. Skill in conflict resolution. Ability to function effectively under pressure and in unexpected or emergency situations. Skill in dealing with multiple constituents and external partners. Ability to troubleshoot problems, resolve multiple problems simultaneously, and handle sensitive and confidential information. Computing skills, excellent verbal and written communication skills. |
Preferred Qualifications | Knowledge of commuter students and their specific needs. Skill in developing support and retention programs. Demonstrate evidence of maturity, good judgment, and creativity; possess effective verbal and written communication skills and a professional demeanor with ability to make complex decisions; skills in developing, organizing, and leading programs and group training sessions. |
