Job Summary: Complete maintenance work orders, repair/replace electrical fixtures and switches, repair and install plumbing. Knowledge of safety procedures required for electrical work. Ability to install, maintain, and repair motors, generators and other mechanical equipment. Able to take accurate measurements. Repair damaged items related to keys and locks, recreate new keys when needed. Install common appliances found in apartments. Maintain/repair as needed for air conditioning units, operate all mechanical tools necessary to complete job required within specific trade. Communicate with students, co-workers, vendors, and residents for a safe living learning environment.

Minimum Qualifications: Completion of an approved apprenticeship program for multiple trades; or a high school diploma and four years of appropriate experience. Appropriate vocational/technical training may substitute at an equivalent rate for the required experience.
Position Qualifications: Basic knowledge of electrical, plumbing, heating, venting and air conditioning systems, carpentry, custodial and work safety guidelines.
Preferred Qualifications Knowledge of the responsibilities of a University Housing (or related residential facilities) Housing and Custodial operation. Strong written and verbal skills, previous experience working independently and as a team member, and demonstrate the ability to plan, organize and coordinate work assignments.
Essential Functions / Job Duties:
  • 25% - Assists with plumbing installation and repairs. Repairs faucets, unclogs, repairs and replaces toilets, sinks, showers as necessary. - (Essential)
  • 25% - Assists with Electrical repairs on switches, circuits, appliances and motors. Performs other electrical repairs as necessary. - (Essential)
  • 15% - Assists with carpentry repairs to include walls, doors, door frames, furniture, windows, Formica counters, cabinets, and any other carpentry work as necessary. - (Essential)
  • 10% - Paints as necessary. - (Essential)
  • 15% - Heating, ventilation, and air conditioning management. Performs minor climate adjustments, trouble shooting and repairs as necessary. - (Essential)
  • 10% - Moves furnishings, picks up debris, receipt and delivery of maintenance supplies, performs dispatch operations in maintenance shop as needed. - (Essential)
