Working Title:  Assistant Director, High-Impact Practices & Industry Engagement
Job Summary: The Assistant Director is responsible for the oversight of the employer engagement function of the office including, but not limited to, daily correspondence with employers, coordinating career networking events, job expos, and other special career and recruitment event functions. The Assistant Director is responsible for the maintenance of existing employer partnerships and the development of new partnerships. This position will also oversee marketing and communication efforts for career events including to employer, alumni, and student audiences. The Assistant Director will also assist in the planning and implementation of high-impact programs and services.

As needed, the Assistant Director will also assist in the area of career planning and coaching by providing formal and informal career education experiences to students in line with career coaching/planning policy. This position may also facilitate group presentations, individual career coaching, class presentations, etc. to current students and alumni.

Minimum Qualifications: Masters degree in an appropriate area of specialization and two years of appropriate experience: or a bachelors degree in an appropriate area of specialization and four years of appropriate experience.
Position Qualifications: Must demonstrate outstanding interpersonal and communications skills. Must be able to effectively interact with employers, students, faculty, staff, and administration on campus. Must be very organized. Must be able to understand, interpret, analyze, and process various forms of data.
Preferred Qualifications Master's degree in Communication, Marketing, Public Relations, Hospitality Management, Business, I/O Psychology, or Student Development.
Essential Functions / Job Duties:
  • 45% - Employer Development and Event Management: Develop intensive, focused, and purposeful relationships with external partners for the creation of new internships, experiential learning opportunities, and full and part-time jobs. Facilitate the Employer Partnership program and investigate other alternative funding opportunities. Establish and maintain an employer recognition program. Develop an employer recruiting plan that focuses on creating a strong pipeline of career opportunities for all academic programs. Work with employers across all industries, gathering information on employment trends and professional skill needs. Increase the visibility and support of on-campus recruiting and benchmark with similar institutions to identify best practices. Plan, organize, and coordinate all logistical, administrative and operational details of Career Development and Community Engagement events (Part-Time Job Fairs, Expos, Meet and Greets, On-Campus Interviews, and others as they arise.) Manage an on-campus recruiting event timeline. Collaborate with other members of the High-Impact Practices & Industry Engagement team to ensure quality service is provided to employers and employment opportunity information is provided to students and alumni in a timely manner. Serve as the unit point of contact for the Statewide Job Fair managed by the Florida Career Centers group. - (Essential)
  • 35% - Budget, Strategic Planning/Assessment, & Administration: Assist with the management of the High-Impact Practices & Industry Engagement budget including revenue projections for career events/fairs. Create and interpret policy related to high-impact practices and employer engagement. Supervise a professional staff member, intern, Graduate Assistant, and/or student staff member. Manage recruitment timelines for student interview applications, candidate selection and interview sign up. Oversee the process of collecting fees and notifying employers of payment processes for career programs. Manage the tracking of event attendance numbers and participation data. Conduct assessment with employers, students, and alumni participating in career events, special events, and recruitment services. Use data-driven decision-making to continually improve services/events and meet student/alumni employment needs (assessment may be in the form of surveys and focus groups). Assess hiring results of employers participating in above activities. Serve as the subject matter expert on the assessment system and process including centralizing, reviewing, analyzing, presenting, and disseminating employer and event-related data. Research and stay abreast of trends and resources in high-impact practices/experiential learning and employer engagement. Other duties as assigned. - (Essential)
  • 10% - Technology & Marketing: Provide input for marketing plans, materials, and outreach activities to promote career events to employers, students, and alumni. Oversee the development of policy and training materials related to the high-impact practices and employer functions of the career management system, Handshake. Serve on the internal CDCE social media marketing team. - (Essential)
  • 10% - Collaboration, Involvement, Outreach, and Planning: Assist in the area of career planning and coaching by providing formal and informal career education experiences to students and alumni in line with career coaching/planning policy. Facilitate group presentations, individual career coaching, class presentations, etc. to current students and alumni. Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders on Career Development & Community Engagement events and initiatives. Serve on office, division, and institution wide committees and groups as needed to foster relationships on campus. Collaborate with other campus event planners as needed. - (Essential)
