Job Summary: Support Center senior IT personnel with the maintenance and operation of the Florida Cyber Range (FCR) data center, Local Area Network (LAN) and Information Systems (IS). Support the creation and documentation of virtualized networks.
Update hardware and software packages, create/revise FCR documentation, install/modify/move computer, and network systems, monitor FCR backups, address security issues, research/test software, hardware, and configurations for implementation into FCR production environment.
Monitor network activity to ensure network confidentiality, integrity, and availability (CIA) for all systems and users through the use of advanced monitoring and vulnerability management software, techniques, and procedures.
Monitor and test web site performance to ensure web site(s) operate correctly and without interruption. Assist in network modeling, analysis, planning, implementation, and coordination between network and data communications hardware and software.
Liaison for technical support between the Center for Cybersecurity’s faculty/staff and UWF Information Technology Services (ITS).
Manage the Center’s help desk and assign work according to task complexity, time restraint, and priority. Install, manage, or modify operating system and other productivity software.

Minimum Qualifications: A high school diploma and six years of appropriate experience. Appropriate coursework or vocational/technical training may substitute at an equivalent rate for the required experience.
Preferred Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or related field with 1 to 3 years' experience, Associate’s degree in Information Technology or related field with 3 to 4 years' experience, or High School Diploma with 6 or more years' experience.
– Meet Department of Defense 8570 IAT Level II (CompTIA Security+)
– Experience or familiarity with (sample tools listed):
• Virtualization infrastructure (vSphere, vCenter, Xen)
• Operating systems (Windows10, Windows Server, MacOS, Redhat, Ubuntu, Kali, Fedora)
• Administration tools (JAMF, SCCM, Intune, Jumpcloud)
• Cloud Platforms (AWS, Azure)
• Containerization platforms (Docker, Docker Swarm, Podman, K8s/K3s)
• Networking routers and firewalls (FortiGate, PFsense, Dell, Cisco, SNMP, Netflow)
• Monitoring Applications (Zabbix, Grafana, Telegraf, ELK, Sysmon, Greylog)
• Major applications (Apache, Microsoft IIS, Microsoft Active Directory, DNS, Microsoft SQL Server, MySQL, Postgresql, Microsoft Office, Google GSuite)
• Hardware (RAID controllers, rack mounting equipment, CAT6 and MM Fiber cabling and termination)
• Security (Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGS), Center for Internet Security (CIS) Tools, patch management, and information assurance vulnerability management compliance and reporting)
– Soft Skills (Good written and verbal communications, email etiquette, good typing skills)
Essential Functions / Job Duties:
  • 30% - First layer to personnel operating the Center for Cybersecurity’s Customer Service Portal (helpdesk). Appropriately assign, categorize, and work on customer support tickets as needed under the supervision of the senior System Administrator. - (Essential)
  • 60% - Support the senior Server Systems Administrator with the maintenance and operation of the Florida Cyber Range (FCR) data center, Local Area Network (LAN), and Information Systems (IS). Support the creation and documentation of virtualized networks to support instructional materials. Monitor network activity to ensure network confidentiality, integrity, and availability (CIA) for all systems and users through the use of advanced monitoring and vulnerability management software, techniques, and procedures. Monitor and test website performance to ensure web site(s) operate correctly and without interruption. Assist in network modeling, analysis, planning, implementation, and coordination between network and data communications hardware and software. Provide assistance to Center personnel regarding purchases and upgrades of hardware and software, including server technologies. Liaison for technical support between the Center for Cybersecurity’s faculty/staff and UWF Information Technology Services (ITS). Manage the Center’s helpdesk and assign work according to task complexity, time restraint, and priority. Install, manage, or modify operating system and other productivity software. - (Essential)
  • 10% - Assist in the development of instructional materials, including range environments, labs and exercises, and provide support for courses, competitions and other education, training and research activities. - (Essential)
