Job Description

The Virginia Tech School of Communication invites applications for a two-year non-tenure-track appointment to begin August 2025*. The instructor will teach Communication Skills, a two-semester course in written and oral communication for first year students. The instructor will teach four classes per semester and use a common syllabus and tests.

*This position is eligible for renewal based on the need by the university for the scope and level of services being provided, and available funding.

Required Qualifications

Master’s Degree in Communication or related discipline.
Experience teaching writing and communication skills.
Ability to work in a collaborative teaching team.

Preferred Qualifications

Full-time experience in teaching written and oral communication.
Course work/experience in teaching first-year students.
Demonstrated ability to incorporate technology into teaching.
Experience/training with incorporating assessment into course work.
