Job Description

The position will be the primary field technician for the Field Crops Agronomy research group located at the Tidewater Agricultural Research and Extension Center. The Field Crop Agronomy program focuses on the implementation of emerging technologies for field crops to improve crop yields, profitability and environmental sustainability. Examples of research projects ongoing are: cotton variety testing, nutrient management in field crops, irrigation research, and enhanced efficiency fertilizer evaluation. Job duties include implementation of field crop research trials, data collection, sample preparation, equipment maintenance, accurate and up-to-date recordkeeping, application of agricultural pesticides to field crops, and assisting in laboratory research trials.

Required Qualifications

Relevant experience and education with field plot design and laboratory techniques; Experience operating agricultural equipment; Ability to attain a commercial pesticide license/Category 10 (Research); Ability to attain a Commercial Driver’s License.

Preferred Qualifications

B.S. degree in Life Sciences or related field.
