About the role
We are seeking a motivated Senior Associate to join our high-performing Professional and Financial Risks (Insurance Litigation and Regulatory) team in our Brisbane office. Ideally, you will bring a minimum 4 years’ Post Qualification Experience and a genuine interest in insurance litigation.
In this role, you will work across a wide variety of insurance litigation and regulatory matters with a particular focus on professional indemnity. We act in Financial Lines Professional Indemnity claims, including on behalf of financial advisors, accountants, and brokers; Construction Lines Professional Indemnity claims involving engineers, architects, and surveyors; and in claims brought under the Personal Injuries Proceedings Act 2002 (PIPA). You would also be involved in regulatory proceedings, in particular on behalf of allied health care professionals.
You will take a leading role in managing files and driving strategy, with the opportunity to shape outcomes and build strong client relationships. You will be supported by highly experienced Principal Lawyers who are committed to mentoring and developing you, while being part of a collegiate and collaborative team. About you
To be considered for this opportunity, you will need:
- Minimum 4 years PQE in a Litigation based role in private practice or in-house, and with proven experience in various areas of professional indemnity insurance litigation
- Excellent communication and organisational skills
- The ability to work well under pressure
- Positive, “can do” attitude and willingness to be a key member of a busy, tight knit team
- A sharp eye for detail and strong writing skills
- A great work ethic and be keen to learn and develop your career.
Skills & Abilities
- Demonstrates an understanding of the legal issues relevant to the practice of insurance law and a demonstrated ability to understand and respond to the commercial objectives of clients.
- This role requires an eye for technical detail but also the ability to provide legal advice in a commercial context. The successful candidate will have the ability to communicate clearly with a high level of attention to detail.
- Proven ability to build relationships and communicate effectively at all levels of seniority.
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
- Ability to deal confidently with clients directly and foster client relationships.
- Time management skills and proven ability to prioritise multiple active matters at any one time.
