Our Graduate Program

Our year-long Graduate Program, available in Brisbane, Melbourne, Perth, and Sydney, is tailored for Law Graduates who have not yet completed their Practical Legal Training (PLT).  It offers the opportunity to explore what a future at Meridian could look like through meaningful work and broad exposure across the firm.

  • In Melbourne, and Sydney, Graduates will complete rotations across our General Insurance/Professional & Financial Risks, Health, and Corporate and Commercial practice groups, lasting approximately three to four months
  • In Brisbane and Perth, Graduates will complete two six-month rotations in our General Insurance/Professional & Financial Risks, and Health practice groups.

Applications close on Friday 29 August 2025, with Graduates starting their placements on Monday 13 October 2025.

About the Role

As a Graduate at Meridian, you will:

  • Rotate through multiple practice areas across the firm’s key specialties
  • Assist with legal research, drafting and preparation of legal documents
  • Attend client meetings and court proceedings
  • Receive guidance and mentorship from Principals and senior legal professionals
  • Be part of a team that values collaboration, diversity, and technical excellence
  • Access ongoing professional development, including financial support to complete your PLT
  • Participate in firm-wide networking and social events
  • Enjoy a hybrid work environment and a culture that recognises and rewards excellence

About You

We are interested in candidates who are motivated and interested to gain experience and insight into our key specialities across General Insurance, Health, Professional & Financial Risks and Corporate and Commercial . Ideally, you will have:

  • A genuine interest in working in Insurance and/or Health law or litigation
  • Ability to work fast and meticulously with high attention to detail
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively and be a key member of the Meridian team
  • A great work ethic and be keen to learn and develop your career

Eligibility

To apply, you must:

  • Be a recent Law Graduate or in your final semester of law studies
  • Not have completed your Practical Legal Training (PLT)

  • A strong communicator with excellent attention to detail
  • Curious, proactive, and eager to learn
  • Able to work effectively in a team environment
