The Director of Schools invites applications from suitably qualified and experienced personnel for two full time positions of Education Officer, Improvement, Learning and Wellbeing (ILW) - Primary Diverse Learning & Wellbeing. One position will commence as soon as possible by negotiation with the second position commencing in January 2026. Both roles will have an initial appointment period of three years after which a permanent teaching position will be negotiated within the system of Catholic Education Diocese of Wollongong (CEDoW) schools.
The roles are an integral part of the broader work of the Improvement, Learning and Wellbeing service area, specifically as members of the Wellbeing and Student Support (WSS) team. These positions focus on supporting students (K-6) with diverse learning, social, emotional, behavioural and wellbeing needs across the diocesan system of schools. The roles will involve a high level of collaboration with families, relevant external agencies and various key stakeholders across CEDoW in support of individual case management and the implementation of Positive Behaviours for Learning (PB4L). It will also include the provision of support for schools in the enrolment and transition of students with diverse needs into CEDoW schools and other educational settings.
The successful applicants will also be required to work closely with members of the WSS team and ILW service area, in developing, delivering, monitoring and evaluating ongoing personal and professional learning formation and growth experiences for school staff and others.
ESSENTIAL SELECTION CRITERIA:
- A deep understanding and commitment to the mission and purpose of a Catholic school within the broader evangelising mission of the Catholic Church
- An understanding of the Disability Standards for Education (2005) aligned to the Disability Discrimination Act (1992)
- Demonstrated completion of recent and significant postgraduate training or qualifications in student wellbeing and/or diverse learning.
- An understanding of curriculum options for students with diverse needs and experience in developing reasonable adjustments to support the individual learning needs of students
- Experience in developing, implementing, monitoring and evaluating personal plans for students related to their learning, development and wellbeing
- Highly developed interpersonal and organisational skills with a particular capacity to inspire staff, build teacher collective efficacy and bring about change that is inspired by the CEDoW strategic goals
- Demonstrated commitment to work in alignment with the Continuous Catholic School Improvement Framework and engage with an inquiry mindset and professionally partner with colleagues, parents and the wider school community
- Capacity to work effectively as part of a dynamic, responsive team, seeking to provide high quality, differentiated and tailored support for schools.
DESIRABLE SELECTION CRITERIA:
- Demonstrated understanding and/or experience in supporting the complex needs of students
- Teaching experience in a specialised setting such as a CEDoW support class
- Demonstrated understanding of CEDoW Diverse Learning Needs Policy
- Experience in the implementation and maintenance of PB4L in a school setting
- Competencies including ability to: Interpret medical documentation and student’s eligibility for Nationally Consistent Collection of Data (NCCD)
- Experience with the Nationally Consistent Collection of Data and the CSNSW Personalised Planning Tool
- Experience as a middle leader or above in a school or educational services setting.
- Experience or qualifications in either vision or hearing support.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
- Degree qualified and accredited with NESA to teach in NSW
- Minimum 10 years teaching experience
- Accredited to Level C in accordance with the Work, Teach and Lead Policy, or a commitment to gain this level within the first 5 years of employment within CEDoW
- Current Drivers Licence.

This role is classified as child-related work and therefore a Working with Children Check (WWCC) is required prior to your employment at CEDoW.
