St Francis Catholic College, Edmondson Park is located near the junction of the M5 and M7 motorways. It is a rapidly growing K-12 school with a student population exceeding 1500 students in 2024. The college is one school, not a traditional primary school and high school coexisting on the same site.  As such, the College is organised into Junior Years Learning (K-4), Middle Years Learning (5-8), and Senior Years Learning (9-12). St Francis is finalising its 7th Stage of Building Development and offers state-of-the-art learning & specialist KLA facilities.

Two permanent full time teaching positions commencing 31 January 2025.  The two positions will also be Middle Leaders (2pt) for various year groups (year to be confirmed).  The role of Middle Leader exists to support the principal in implementing the vision and mission of the college, to support growth in faith and improvement in learning and wellbeing of students and assist the college leadership team in the conduct and organisation of the college.

ESSENTIAL SELECTION CRITERIA

The preferred applicant demonstrates the following criteria:

  • Has a deep understanding and commitment to the mission and purpose of the Catholic School within the broader Catholic Church.
  • Demonstrates a commitment to academic excellence and a sound knowledge of contemporary approaches to pedagogy including the nature of assessment and differentiated learning.
  • Builds a learning culture of shared responsibility for quality teaching and student learning growth, informed by data.
  • Displays an ability to lead learning and foster innovation and creativity in a collaborative environment.
  • Has a comprehensive understanding of NESA requirements and a proven ability to implement effective teaching programs.
  • Knowledge and understanding of requirements of all courses within the relevant KLA.

DESIRABLE CRITERIA:

  • Ability to teach in one or more KLAs from Year 7 through to one or more courses to HSC Level.
  • Ability to teach Religious Education.

The following GENERAL CAPABILITIES are applicable to the role:

  • Well-developed interpersonal skills.
  • Well-developed oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Strong organisational skills.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Appropriate qualifications for teaching courses to HSC Level.
  • Level C Accreditation aligned  in accordance with to ‘Accreditation to Work, Teach and Lead in Systemic Catholic Schools in the Diocese of Wollongong’  policy or a commitment to gain within the first contractual period.
  • NESA Accreditation at Proficient Teacher level or above.

WORKING WITH CHILDREN CLEARANCE

This role is classified as a child related work and therefore we require a working with children clearance to be completed prior to your commencement with us.
