About the role
In this role you will provide professional and positive operational and administrative support services to meet the strategic, community and program delivery requirements of the Grovedale Neighbourhood House, which operates from the Grovedale Community Hub. This includes managing program enrolments, room and venue hire, records management, data entry and operational reporting, whilst ensuring the Neighbourhood House is presentable and fit for purpose to ensure the needs of all user groups are met.

Work type: Fixed Term – Part Time (20hrs per week) through to June 2028
Classification: Band 5 $42.22 per hour

Key responsibilities include:

  • Provide high‑level administrative and operational support to ensure the effective day‑to‑day functioning of the Neighbourhood House and Community Hub.
  • Work collaboratively with the Neighbourhood House Coordinator to plan, facilitate and support the delivery of programs and events, including coordination of venue set‑up and pack‑down, and participation in planning meetings and professional development activities.
  • Coordinate operational requirements for programs, events and community activities, including scheduling, logistics and ensuring facility readiness.
  • Monitor enquiries, participation data and community feedback, resolve routine operational issues using sound judgement, and prepare reports and statistics to support service improvement and decision‑making
  • Welcome visitors, participants and user groups to the Neighbourhood House, responding to customer needs by understanding expectations and appropriately prioritising requests.
  • Deliver high‑quality customer service, acting as a point of contact for complex enquiries, complaints and facility‑related matters within the scope of the role.
  • Scheduling and maintenance of social media accounts and marketing requirements.

About you
The ideal candidate for this role will have experience as an Administrative Officer, preferably within a Neighbourhood House or Community Hub setting. You will have a customer service background and be comfortable liaising with a diverse range of people, be highly organised, flexible and enjoy engaging with the community.

Essential Experience:

  • Degree or diploma in community development, social sciences or comparable qualification or at least 5 years work experience within a related work environment.
  • Demonstrated experience working within a Neighbourhood House or community hub demonstrating the application of community development principles.
  • Proven experience providing high-level customer service, administrative support, promotion of community centres, programs, activities and events, basic financial management skills.
  • Sound understanding of community development principles and inclusive engagement practices.
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) include the ability to adapt communications to identified need and/or purpose
  • Proficient in problem solving and managing competing priorities and deadlines.
  • Current Working with Children’s Check (Employee)

Preferred candidates will be required to undergo a National Police Check as part of the recruitment process (funded by the City).
