About the role
In this role, you will help deliver a welcoming and memorable visitor experience at the Geelong Waterfront Carousel. You will be the face of the attraction, ensuring visitors feel welcomed, informed, and supported while enjoying one of Geelong’s most iconic heritage experiences. The role combines customer service, retail operations, and site presentation, contributing to a high-quality experience for locals and tourists alike.

From time to time, you may also support other arts and cultural facilities within the Economic and Cultural Development Department.

Classification: Band 3 $35.84/per hour

Key responsibilities include:

  • Delivering warm, professional customer service to visitors, groups, and event attendees.
  • Managing admissions, retail sales, and cash handling using point-of-sale systems.
  • Maintaining a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for all visitors and supporting day-to-day site presentation.
  • Supporting the setup, presentation, and merchandising of retail stock and promotional displays to enhance the visitor experience.
  • Assisting with daily operational tasks including opening/closing procedures, stock control, and reporting of incidents or maintenance issues in line with procedures.
  • Sharing knowledge of the Carousel’s history and assisting with general visitor enquiries and operational tasks.

About you
To be successful in this role, you will have…

Essential Experience:

  • Experience in customer service, ideally within retail, tourism, hospitality, or events.
  • Confidence using point-of-sale systems, handling cash, and completing basic administrative tasks.
  • Ability to multitask and maintain high standards of presentation, safety, and customer care.
  • Availability to work across a 7-day roster, including weekends, school holidays, and public holidays.

Preferred candidates will be required to undergo a National Police Check and a Working with Children's Check as part of the recruitment process (funded by the City).
