About the role
The Gymnastics Program Specialist will play a key role in launching and leading the recreational gymnastics program at the new Waurn Ponds Sports Complex, opening in 2027. Reporting to the Stadiums Manager- Swim Sport and Leisure, this position is responsible for the end-to-end development of the program, including program design, recruitment, training, policy development, promotion, and enrolments. Following establishment, the role will oversee the ongoing management and continuous improvement of the program to ensure it delivers safe, inclusive, and engaging experiences that meet industry standards and community expectations. This hands-on leadership role combines people leadership, operational planning, and specialist gymnastics expertise to create a thriving gymnastics program for the Greater Geelong community.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Lead the establishment, delivery, and continuous improvement of a high-quality recreational gymnastics program.
  • Recruit, mentor, and support gymnastics coaches and staff to deliver exceptional customer experiences.
  • Develop and implement program structures, assessments, policies, procedures, and training programs aligned with industry standards.
  • Support program growth through stakeholder engagement, community partnerships, promotions, and enrolment initiatives, including pre-sale enrolments.
  • Contribute to business planning, budgeting, reporting, and operational processes to ensure sustainable program performance.
  • Foster a positive, inclusive, and safety-focused team culture aligned with Council values and Child Safe Standards.

 

About you
You are an experienced gymnastics professional with a passion for community participation, program development, and team leadership. You bring strong technical knowledge of recreational gymnastics programs, along with demonstrated experience leading coaches and creating engaging, customer-focused environments. Highly organised and collaborative, you are confident managing competing priorities, building relationships with stakeholders, and contributing to business growth and operational success. You thrive in a hands-on role, are adaptable in a fast-paced environment and motivated by the opportunity to help establish a new community gymnastics program from the ground up.

Essential Experience:

  • Suitable gymnastics coaching accreditation 
  • Current Working with Children Check
  • Provide First Aid and CPR
  • Preferred candidates will be required to undergo a National Police Check and a pre-employment medical assessment as part of the recruitment process (funded by the City).
