About the role
In this dynamic and high-volume role, you will be the backbone of the Statutory Planning team, using your administration expertise to manage multiple tasks, coordinate applications and ensure information is accurate and up to date. You’ll support planners by gathering details, tracking progress, and helping the team meet deadlines — all while learning about the planning and development process and contributing to meaningful outcomes for the community.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Support planners by coordinating planning permits, processing application documentation and assisting with enquiries.
  • Be the initial contact for enquiries — gathering the right details, investigating the enquiry and finding the correct response.
  • Prepare clear, professional correspondence and maintain accurate records across multiple systems.
  • Manage a high-volume workload, balancing phone calls, administration and team priorities.
  • Liaise with internal departments, external authorities, developers and the community to ensure deadlines are met.
  • Contribute to improving processes and systems that support a large, collaborative team.

About you
You’re a highly capable administrator who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment and is looking for a role with purpose and variety.  You are curious, proactive and genuinely interested in how planning, development and the built environment work.

Essential Experience:

  • Has a genuine interest in planning, development, building or how cities grow and change.
  • Can quickly learn new information, retain it and apply it in a practical way.
  • Is naturally curious and enjoys investigating to find the right answer rather than just passing tasks on.
  • Thrives in a busy environment with a large and supportive team.
  • Is highly organised, adaptable and able to manage multiple tasks and competing priorities.
  • Brings strong administration experience and excellent computer skills.
  • Is a true team player with a positive attitude and willingness to learn.
  • Preferred candidates will be required to undergo a National Police Check (funded by the City).
