About the role
In this role, you will develop and deliver initiatives and projects within the Community Inclusion Unit that promote lifelong learning and employment, strengthen social connection, improve equitable access and inclusion, and build community capacity to respond to local needs—particularly across disability, LGBTQIA+, multicultural and communities experiencing socioeconomically disadvantage.

Work type: Temporary Part-time .8 FTE (12 months)
Classification: Band 6 Commencing at $95,760 pa plus super pro rata

Key responsibilities include:

  • Engage with community members and internal/external stakeholders to understand needs, aspirations, and emerging issues.
  • Develop and support networks of community members and agencies to foster collaboration, skill-sharing, and knowledge exchange for inclusion projects.
  • Plan, implement, and evaluate community engagement activities to ensure projects are responsive and beneficial to the community.
  • Facilitate community involvement in project planning, delivery, and evaluation to inform future initiatives and resource allocation.
  • Prepare and monitor project budgets, reporting progress and outcomes to supervisors through established processes.
  • Lead research, develop initiatives and submissions, and contribute to policies, procedures, and strategies that enable effective, responsive, and well-resourced community inclusion projects.

About you
To be successful in this role, you will have either a degree in Social Sciences, Community Development, or a related field, or significant experience working in community development or a similar area. Previous experience working in local government human service delivery would be advantageous.

Essential Experience:

  • Demonstrated experience in policy implementation, planning and research in a relevant discipline.
  • Demonstrated ability to achieve outcomes in partnership with the community.
  • Experience in the development, implementation and evaluation of community engagement initiatives and inclusion projects.
  • Excellent communication skills including persuasive oral and written skills
  • Ability to analyse community needs and adapt to diverse and changing role requirements.
  • Excellent inter-personal skills to engage, negotiate, facilitate and liaise with community, stakeholders and colleagues at all levels of the organisation.
  • Current Working with Children Check (employee). 
  • Preferred candidates will be required to undergo a National Police Check as part of the recruitment process (funded by the City).
