About the role
In this role, you will contribute to the development of strategic plans, structure plans, guidelines and planning policies that reflect our community’s aspirations. You will manage planning projects, provide contemporary strategic planning advice, and work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team to guide the city’s long-term growth.
Work type: 12-month fixed term contract.
Classification: Band 6, $95,760 pa plus super
Key responsibilities include:
- Preparing and implementing strategic plans, guidelines, policies and planning projects.
- Managing and processing planning scheme amendments in line with legislation.
- Providing expert strategic planning advice to internal teams, Councillors, external partners and the community.
- Leading procurement and managing consultant contracts, project timelines and deliverables.
- Undertaking research, analysis and community engagement to support evidence-based recommendations.
- Preparing Council reports, project briefs, funding submissions and other key documents.
- Presenting to Council, stakeholders and the community.
About you
To be successful in this role, you will have strong knowledge of strategic planning principles, planning scheme amendments and the Planning and Environment Act.
Essential Experience:
- Tertiary qualifications in Town Planning or a related discipline.
- Strong understanding of planning scheme amendment processes, including relevant legislation and the Victorian Planning Provisions.
- Highly developed written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate complex planning concepts into clear language.
- Proven project management experience, including managing timelines, deliverables and consultant engagement.
- Strong analytical skills, with experience conducting research and synthesising information into practical outcomes.
- Ability to work independently while contributing positively to team culture.
- Experience with GIS, CS Design Standard or SketchUp is desirable.
Preferred candidates will be required to undergo a National Police Check as part of the recruitment process (funded by the City).
